Let’s take a closer look
Key Features of the W66 Window Cleaning Robot
Intelligent Navigation: one feature that makes the Hutt W66 stand out as a very efficient window cleaning robot is its smart suite of sensors. To enable smart cleaning, the robot is equipped with anti-collision and anti-drop sensors. It also features intelligent route planning for identifying the best cleaning route, and window frame recognition to intelligently recognize the edge of the window pane and automatically slow down as it approaches and change direction.
Powerful suction: for a successful cleaning session, the robot has to stay glued to the surface and this is made possibly by a 2600 Pa suction power. With this much power, W66 is able to strongly adhere to both smooth and rough surfaces, and it automatically adjusts its cleaning pressure according to the type of surface and dirt degree.
Special non-slip and anti-skid track: in addition to a very powerful suction, anti-slip/anti-skid wheels encourage better adhesion while also ensuring that no streaks or marks are left on a surface. To achieve this, the robot features a multi-layer composite track with an inner layer of friction material and high-viscosity silica gel on the outer layer.
How the W66 Automatic Window Robot Works?
To clean, this robot simply goes over the windows, wiping the surfaces with the cleaning pad as it travels. It has both dry cleaning and wet cleaning modes; for the former, the robot cleans the window pane with dry microfiber pads and for the latter it uses wet pads to clean. Hutt W66 can follow both N and Z cleaning paths to ensure that every part of the surface is wiped clean, it leaves no uncleaned spaces.
During the wet cleaning, the 8 sets of spraying nozzles wet the surface to loosen up dirt, while the cleaning napkin wipes it off. With a full water tank, the robot can clean about 70 to 80 square meters, it has a travel speed of 25000 rpm/min and sprays every 10 seconds to maintain humidity.
As the window cleaner robot travels, it has built-in laser sensors to detect obstacles such as window handles and frames, it’s also equipped with sensors to intelligently recognize the edge of the window frame and will slow down in advance to protect the frame. After a cleaning session, the robot automatically returns to its original position.
The Xiaomi Hutt model is one excellent window cleaning robot, it cleans with spectacular results, plus it’s a powerful and silent model. Besides being great for glass windows in high-rise buildings, offices and homes, this robot can also clean a variety of other surfaces beautifully well, including ceramic tiles, mirrors, marbles, wooden and hard floors, thanks to the extra powerful 2600 pa suction force.
This automatic window cleaner robot is also very sensitive to window panes, it can automatically adjust its suction force to ensure that it exerts only the right amount of pressure to keep it glued to a surface at any given time. Hutt W66 will clean without leaving any visible streaks, and the ultra-thin body of the robot (7.6 cm thick) allows it to squeeze through tight spaces.
The laser detection sensors work perfectly well, they always ensure that the robot slows down as it approaches the edges of a window and changes direction. The microfiber pads provide enough soft cushion so the robot cleans without leaving streaks, marks or scratches on surfaces, especially glass.
You weren’t thinking that this is a perfect robot now, were you? Okay, it’s a superb window cleaning robot, but it does have a few drawbacks that are worth mentioning. First, it has a noise level of 65db while working, which may not be too loud, but it’s absolutely noisy for its size.
Also, it can sometimes leave streaks on your glass window, but this doesn’t happen very often, so it’s not exactly a dealbreaker, and you can prevent it by running a dry-clean session before the wet cleaning.
Another limitation is the adhesion, well it doesn’t fall off, but using it to dry-clean a frameless glass will increase the risk of a fall. However, it has a security rope that prevents it from hitting the ground in case of an accidental fall.
Ease of set up and use
Setting up the Hutt W66 for the first time is a breeze. After the unboxing process, and you’re ready to clean, follow the steps outlined in the user’s manual. Make sure to secure the safety rope to a firm place before every cleaning session. And always fill the water tank with the measuring bottle included in the package.
You can easily control the robot with the remote control. It has 3 operating modes; auto clean, depth clean and fixed point clean. With the remote control, you can select your preferred clean mode, change the direction of the robot, turn on/off the water spray, or choose between dry and wet cleaning. And finally, it has voice alerts to give you updates about the robot, like, “No water in tank.”
W66 is an automatic window cleaning robot you can rely on to take care of your large glass windows, while also keeping other surfaces around the home shiny and spotless. It’s very efficient with excellent features and very smart obstacle recognition sensors. For extra care, the remote control is equipped with a child safety lock, and it can also be controlled from a smartphone.
It’s a very sturdy robot, and comes with a 650 mAh backup battery which keeps it on for an extra 20 mins in the event of an unexpected power outage. But always remember to attach the safety rope to a firm place to prevent a disastrous fall. The backup battery has a long charging time of 2.2 hours.
Xiaomi Hutt w66 vs Hutt ddc55
The major difference between these two automatic window cleaner robots can be seen in the design, size and shape. While they are sister robots from the same company, they were clearly designed for different window and surface types. Hutt DDC55 has an oval-shaped design with circular cleaning pads, making it more suitable for round windows. While Hutt W66 is a square robot with square cleaning pads, therefore it’s designed to clean rectangular and squarish windows.

This automatic window cleaning robot is a low-maintenance gadget, a simple after-cleaning routine will keep the robot in good shape for a very long time. After every cleaning, hold the safety rope in one hand and use the other hand to give the round button a long press, then gently remove the robot from the window. Empty the water tank and remove the cleaning pad. Wash the pad if dirty and leave it to dry properly. Ensure that you never store the robot with water in the tank, and never use dirty pads to clean to avoid streaks on window panes.
Extra Purchases and ongoing costs
Xiaomi Hutt W66 window cleaning robot comes with a complete set of accessories, all you need to operate the robot is included in the package. There are four reusable microfiber cleaning pads, a measuring bottle, the power cord, safety rope, user’s manual, remote control and a storage box. So, there is absolutely no need for any extra purchase for the first few months of use. Eventually, you may need to get a few extra microfiber pads and AAA batteries for the remote control.
A couple of alternatives to consider
While Hutt W66 is obviously one of the most interesting models of window cleaning robots, it does have a few drawbacks that may be a dealbreaker for you. For instance, it doesn’t use a cleaning solution and doesn’t clean windows with round edges.
If you want a robot that can do the above, then the Sophinique HC 09 window cleaning robot is an excellent alternative, and it comes at a good price. Sophinique HC 09 is an oval-shaped window cleaner that works beautifully well on rounded windows, it’s also compatible with all types of glass plus a variety of other surface types.
On the other hand, if you have a large budget and don’t mind a high-end window cleaner with a steep price tag, consider the Hobot 2S automatic window cleaner robot. Similar to the W66, the Hobot 2S is also a square-style robot and one of the most powerful models out there. It comes with dual ultrasonic spray nozzle, cleaning detergent, two replaceable water tanks, edge-detection sensors, AI intelligence, and control via a smartphone app.
Is the Hutt W66 window cleaner a Xiaomi Mijia brand device?
Yes, Hutt W66 automatic window cleaner is a Xiaomi Mijia device. The Mijia is a sub-brand of Xiaomi which specializes on gadgets for smart homes, and Hutt W66 is a cleaning equipment that falls into this category.
Can this robot clean outside of high building windows?
Yes, Xiaomi Hutt W66 comes with an 8 m long power cable and 8 m long safety rope, therefore it can clean windows of over 20 ft high.
Does it need a special cleaning solution?
Hutt W66 is designed to clean with only water and not a cleaning solution. I’d advise that you don’t pour any cleaning solution into the water tank because the spray nozzle is built to spray just water and nothing else. The manufacturer doesn’t recommend the use of a cleaning solution, and the wrong detergent may damage the spray nozzle.
Where can I get replacement pads for Hutt W66?
There are replacement pads available on Amazon and other eCommerce platforms, you can get 4 pcs of microfiber pads for less than $10.
With the number of products available, finding an automatic window cleaner robot that checks all the boxes can be a challenge. But one thing you should know is that the best window cleaner robots are usually not the most expensive. A mid-range product like the Xiaomi Hutt W66 is more than an average window robot, it’s in fact an amazing product that gets the job with very little effort. And if you’re still wondering if it’s worth it, the answer is yes, especially if you have large rectangular windows.
