The S series from the Roborock brand is superior to several robot vacuums in the market. Yet, due to the several available models, it can be quite challenging to choose the best robot vacuum amongst them. We think that the S7 and S7 Plus are great if you do not live in a carpeted home because it has excellent mopping abilities.
In contrast, the S7 MaxV and S7 MaxV Plus are perfect for different floor types due to their powerful suction rating and high scrubbing intensity. However, we would recommend the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra. Despite being equipped with the same features as all other editions, it also has an Empty Wash Fill station that makes it self-sufficient and independent while cleaning.

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is currently the best of the premium Roborock S Series. With a power rating of 5100PA, the device is capable of sucking up any dirt, debris, and hair from any surface. The Roborock models have always had strong batteries, and it’s no different for the S7, which has an installed 5200 mAh battery. Hence, the robot vacuum can last for about an hour and a half when run on maximum power but over 3 hours when used in quiet mode. The Roborock S7 also provides stellar performance and can easily make its way back to its docking station with autopilot to recharge when the battery drops to 20%.
Conventionally, S7 makes its low battery known with a red light indicator. However, suppose your robot vacuum is cleaning, and it runs out of battery. In that case, you don’t have to worry about plugging it in. Instead, it returns to charge itself and returns to cleaning when fully charged. While this is a good feature, the charging time isn’t so great. The Roborock S7 charging isn’t fast; it takes around 6 hours to recharge fully.
The Roborock S7 MaxV and Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra also have great battery life. Roborock claims that the batteries can last for over 3 hours on a full charge in quiet mode. However, the two robot vacuum lasted shorter in Max power at a little above one hour. Also, despite the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra dock charging 30% faster than a Roborock traditional charger, the MaxV and MaxV Ultra batteries still take about 4 hours to recharge fully.
Like all average robot vacuums, the MaxV robot cleaners automatically return home to recharge when their battery gets low. Note that each robot vacuum has a specified percentage to return to its base station. Hence, in the case of Roborock S7 MaxV, the robot cleaners return to their docking stations at 19%. Plus, a battery level indicator in the app shows you how much run time you have left.
Voice Assistant
Most Roborock’s robot vacuums have a voice control option to aid their use. The same goes for the S7, which is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google’s Assistant. However, there’s a limited command you could give to your voice assistant to control your robot vacuum. Still, it’s quite impressive to tell your robot vacuum to start cleaning when you are too busy to go to your phone and activate the command on the application or press the start button on the S7 itself.
Note that you need the Google Home app on your phone if you use Google assistant to send commands to your robot vaccum. Once you have got the Google Home app, search and pair the Roborock. Afterward, you can easily clean your home with the Hey Google, start my vacuum cleaner command. Unfortunately, you can’t use the voice assistant command to tell your S7 to do a selective room cleaning. You can only do this through the app.

Hence, you can easily command your robot vacuum through voice control. In addition, you can easily set up voice commands to clean each room with the Alexa option. Therefore, despite the app being simple to set up via WiFi and use, the voice control is still easier to use for commands such as cleaning a specific room, pausing, and resuming cleaning.
The Roborock S7 is equipped with smart LiDAR navigation capable of navigating complex layouts and planning an intelligent path for efficient cleaning. Thanks to the application, you can easily set up virtual boundaries, no mop zones, and others to ensure that your robot vacuum cleaner stays clear of the part in your home where you do not want them. In addition, the navigation system does an excellent job of obstacle avoidance and creates accurate maps that can be saved and used for cleaning later on.
The Roborock S7 MaxV and Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra similarly use the LiDAR-based navigation system. Although, it is supported by a dual-camera setup, unlike the S7. Still, the navigation system helps your robot find its way around your home and create a 3D map as it cleans your home.
A bonus is that this system doesn’t only create a map; it leaves markers that identify obstacles it came across while cleaning, such as power cables, furniture, dropped shoes, etc., that you could view in your app. The dual camera can also provide you with a live stream option to see and communicate with people in your home. In addition, the mapping system can map out and save more than one-floor layout.

Performance
Even though the performance is slightly identical, the difference in suction power and the automatic dust bin emptying feature makes a big difference between the S7 and S7 MaxV, including the Ultra mode. With a good suction power but not the most powerful at 2500PA for vacuuming, it might not be the best choice if you only need it for vacuuming. However, suppose you need it for both vacuuming and mopping. Yet, it is important to note that despite the Roborock S7 MaxV and Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra versions having identical performance, their auto emptying feature is quite different. The S7 MaxV comes with a simple charging dock that does not have the auto emptying feature. While the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra has an Empty Wash Fill dock capable of self-emptying its dirt bag, refilling, and cleaning the mopping pads.
Monetary Value
A budget robot vacuum without any extra features will probably cost you around $200, so the S7 range is certainly at the premium end of the market.
As you’d expect, the cheapest of the three is the older one, the Roborock S7 which costs around $650. But, the great thing about it being a bit older is you will often find deals on it, especially during events such as Prime Day or Black Friday. It has a great obstacle avoidance technology. In addition, it can mop and clean efficiently without causing a mess or leaving behind cleaning marks. Therefore, we think that the price offers excellent value for a premium robot in the current market.
In contrast, the Roborock S7 Max will normally be around $200 more than the S7. Still, despite it being more expensive, the RGB camera and increased suction power are worth the difference.
And finally, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra model. It is quite a bit more expensive, usually around $1400. However, you have to consider the price includes the self-cleaning Empty Wash Fill dock. If you want to include auto emptying in the S7 of the S7 MaxV, you will have to add another $200 or so.
So as you can see, even though all of the models of the S series are quite expensive, they are all worth their price with their smart, excellent and efficient features.

The Roborock S7 is an excellent hybrid vacuum cleaner. Still, it lacks functions such as the auto emptying feature that makes it highly dependent on humans. Hence, Roborock offer the S7 Plus package, which is just an upgrade of the S7 with an auto empty baseLike the S7 version, the S7 Plus can vacuum and mop simultaneously.
It also has an integrated automatic mop lifting feature, which lifts its mop cloth when it detects being in a carpeted area. The plus version has a great battery life and an identical suction power of 2500PA. Thus, the Roborock S7 Plus might not be the best option if you want a robot vacuum with stronger suction power.
On the other hand, Roborock S7MaxV comes with a powerful 5100PA. The same goes for the Roborock S7 MaxV Plus version; hence it might be a great option if you want a stronger vacuuming cleaner.
