1-Minute Roborock S7 MaxV Review
The Roborock brand is relatively new in the robot mop and vacuum market compared to other brands that have been in the industry for over 20 years. Despite being new, the brand has leveled itself up as formidable competitor to these big and older brands with the consequent release of powerful hybrid cleaners.
The Roborock S7 MaxV is one of the latest models from the brand. It offers one of the best-automated cleaning performances in the market to date with its new obstacle avoidance system, sonic mopping, voice assistant, and much more. Although its Ultra version’s release offers more features, the Roborock S7 MaxV isn’t a bad choice with its incredible suction power.
With its 5100 PA, it has no trouble sucking up dust, pet hair, and other debris. Though unlike the Ultra version, it does not come with an auto emptying docking station and cleaning mopping system, still it provides efficient cleaning.
- Built-in security camera
- Integrated voice assistant features
- Efficient mop & clean with sonic vibration technology
- User firendly application
- Good battery life
- Excellent navigation system
- No Empty Wash Fill dock
- Struggles with long or pet hairs

Let’s Take A Closer Look
What’s in the box
When you purchase a new box of the Roborock S7, here’s what’s included:
- Plastic moisture proof
- A power cable
- Charging dock
- Roborock S7 MaxV
- Mop pad and mop bracket
- The user manual
How it works
The Roborock S7 MaxV does a great job of cleaning after being fully recharged. With the tremendous boost to twice the suction power rating of 5100PA from its previous models, the robot vacuum cleans harder.
In addition, it sucks up any dirt or debris on hardwood floors and carpets. The S7 MaxV also features the VibraRise Mopping, which scrubs up to 3000 times per minute and can efficiently clean without leaving behind a speck in most cases.
Despite doing quite an excellent job at cleaning, other obstacles can aid this device from achieving its cleaning goals. For instance, it could be hitting furniture and getting stuck, vacuuming small objects such as cables or socks, and more. Hence, the Roborock integrates the S7 MaxV with the Reactive AI 2.0, which can easily recognize obstacles and their positions.
The Reactive AI 2.0 helps the robot avoid getting stuck around these obstacles and creates a smarter and faster route for cleaning. The device supports Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant that you can use to give voice commands to your robot. In addition, the easy-to-use and set up app gives you advanced control such as cleaning intensity, checking the battery level, marking out no mop zones, and many more!
The S7 MaxV uses the LiDAR-based navigation system alongside its accurate obstacle avoidance technology to create smart cleaning routes and compile the floor layouts of your home. The best part is it can store multiple-level floor plans. However, the accurate navigation of this robot isn’t only due to its LiDAR-based system; this robot vacuum is also equipped with the S7 MaxV RGB camera, which was last seen in the Roborock S6 MaxV.
The RGB camera helps detect any obstacles by identifying and avoiding them. It is also equipped with an LED light to perform its function either during the day or night. So, you do not have to pre tidy your home before cleaning by picking up socks, shoes, pet toys, and more. You could also set up the camera feature in your app to enable you to video call your pets or family in your home through the robot.
Suppose you have ever come across or used the first set of hybrid robot vacuum and mop cleaners. Then chances are, you are well aware of the mess those mops made and perhaps still make now while mopping. Such as, dragging mops across carpets and rugs and not cleaning with enough power.
The Roborock S7 MaxV ensures that there wouldn’t be such a similar situation with its use of sonic vibration technology. Like the one found in the Roborock S7, the sonic vibration delivers efficiently by scrubbing up to 3000 times per minute to eliminate any dry or sticky dirt on the floor.
In addition, the impressive VibraRise mop function enables the mop to automatically lift when it detects carpet or rug with its ultrasonic sensor without causing a mess or damping your rug. However, we didn’t like that the S7 MaxV is equipped with a 200ml water tank that is smaller than the water tank in its previous models. The small size means you have to frequently empty and refill the water tank.
The Roborock app is easy to use and navigate. You can easily connect through the WiFi pairing option or scan the QR code. Regardless, both method is easy to use. After signing in, the S7 MaxV offers you many features to control your robot vacuum cleaner. The application gives you the option to toggle and customize certain features, such as setting up rooms and barriers in your 3D map, creating scheduled cleaning, and more.
Roborock S7 MaxV can save at least 3 maps of multiple floors, which gives you a chance to name individual rooms on the map for specific room cleaning. The app offers other features such as the more minor collision mode and pet avoidance option. The S7 MaxV is also compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa despite not having a built-in voice assistant.
The Roborock S7 MaxV delivers a stellar performance with its top-notch intelligence. With an upgrade of suction power to 5100PA, which is a massive boost compared to its predecessor, the robot vacuum removes all dirt, hair, and debris from hardwood floors and carpets. The best part of this smart vacuum is that it increases its suction power whenever it detects being on a carpeted floor to intensify cleaning.
Thankfully, the S7 MaxV is quiet while using. However, we noticed that even though the cleaning of the carpet was amazing, there’s still some work to be done. For example, there’s a need for manual vacuuming to remove the dirt buried deep into the carpets once in a while. Also, the device has an excellent battery life with a battery that can last for 3 active hours (depending on the cleaning cycle).
The LiDAR sensor and security camera also help the robot vacuum steer clear of objects or obstacles while cleaning and take a smart route around the home, so it doesn’t bump into anything. It was a nice upgrade to the S7, which didn’t have the camera feature. Additionally, you could use the robot’s camera to communicate with your pets or family with its two-way audio.
Also, while many average mopping robots splashed water around without removing dirt, the S7 MaxV mopping sonic vibration enables it to scrub the floors and remove all dirt. Plus, when set in both vacuuming and mopping mode, the robot vacuum can detect carpets with its ultrasonic sound sensor and fold away the mops to avoid getting water on the carpets.
The Roborock S7 MaxV is certainly at the premium end of the pricing scale, usually costing around $850. However, given its excellent features, such as whopping suction power, ultrasonic carpet recognition, LiDAR-based navigation, RGB Camera, and others, it’s worth the high price. Its price might be considered a limitation for buyers because this version only comes with a standard charging dock and it doesn’t have the self empty or cleaning function.
In contrast, the S7 MaxV Plus model with the self-emptying costs over $300 more because of its accompanying self-empty docking station. Therefore, the price of the Roborock S7 MaxV might be a constant limitation for purchase for homeowners with a tight budget.
No Self-sufficient Dock
Another big limitation of purchasing the Roborock S7 MaxV is its lack of a do-it-yourself docking station.
With the plain version of the robot, you have to do many things manually, such as frequent emptying of the dust canister, refilling of water, and washing and drying the mop pads.
Therefore, you always have to be around to ensure that the robot carries out its cleaning duties efficiently. However, you could easily solve this limitation by purchasing an Empty Wash Fill docking station that could automatically carry out these duties without your help, but it comes at an extra cost.
Ease Of Set Up And Use
The setting up of the Roborock S7 MaxV isn’t difficult and doesn’t take long, let’s take a quick look at how it works.
So, we know that when you unbox your S7 MaxV, you have the mop pad and bracket separately from the robot. Hence, the first step is to attach the mop bracket to the S7 MaxV. That is easy as the bracket easily slides into the bottom of the robot.
Then from the top, you can slot in your fingers and pull out the water tank. It’s small, but you can fill it with water for mopping. Unfortunately, you cannot add any detergent or other cleaning solution to the robot. Still, you can purchase the Roborock cleaning solution and ensure that you dilute it properly—1 part cleaning solution to 300 parts of water.
The next step is to charge; you have to charge the vacuum cleaner. So, once you have installed the docking station, switch on the robot and click on the docking station to enable it to charge. Again, we recommend placing the dock against the wall.
Next, is to download the Roborock app on either Playstore or App store and connect depending on your device. You can connect with either the QR code scan or use the WiFi setup to enable using the app for easy control and navigation.
Once connected, we recommend starting with a full floor clean to enable your robot to create a mapped layout of your home. Finally, you can play around with your app, set schedules, create a no go zone on the map, and do room-specific cleaning.
The maintenance of the Roborock S7 MaxV isn’t exactly earth-shattering. The basic one is the dust filter you can access when you pop up the hood from the top. You could lift the entire dust bin to empty its content and clean the filter with water and air dry or replace the HEPA filter. You can also pull out the water tank and refill it regularly.
The mopping attachment is another part of the robot vacuum that needs consistent maintenance. The mopping pad must be washed and dried frequently since the Roborock S7 MaxV doesn’t have the presence of a docking station that is capable of doing those.
It’s easy to remove the mopping cloth since it has a rail that you can easily use to slide the mop in and out. Roborock claims that the brush at the bottom can resist hair tangles. Still, if you notice any stuck hair, you can remove the roller’s end caps and remove the hair.
Extra Purchases And Ongoing Costs
The HEPA filter needs to be changed regularly to ensure the efficiency of your Roborock S7 MaxV. Usually, you can wash the filter frequently with water to get rid of all dirt if it’s clogged up. Then air dry it for a while before putting it back in the robot vacuum.
Note that Roborock claims that the filter needs to be replaced after 150 hours of use. While you can clean the filter, you need to replace it after a while. Unfortunately, there are no filter spares in the Roborock S7 MaxV box, so you need to purchase them separately on Amazon.
Additional mopping pads
You will need to be changing these regularly to avoid that damp cloth smell that can happen. The robot comes with one included, but I bought a pack of five additional cloths, and a few additional extras, for around $20. It is certainly worth it so you can just swap the cloth out easily.
The front spinning brush and the main roller brush will also have to be replaced from time to time. It is really easy to do and the replacement parts are cheap. What’s really cool is the app will tell you when they need doing. It has a % usage that counts down so you can easily see when then need replacing.
I highly recommend an accessory set such as this on Amazon that will have everything you need to keep you going for a long time.
Roborock S7 MaxV Vs Roborock S7 MaxV Plus
The Roborock S7 MaxV and Roborock S7 MaxV Plus are identical, with a powerful suction power of 5100PA capable of efficiently cleaning dirt and other debris. Alongside a LiDAR-based navigation system, a front-facing camera enhances the robot vacuum’s obstacle avoidance ability due to object recognition and structured light sensing.
The mopping system also works effortlessly with its sonic vibration technology that ensures scrubbing 3000 times per minute to remove stubborn stains and dirt. Roborock S7 MaxV and Roborock S7 MaxV Plus also have an excellent battery life that can last for up to 3 hours when running in quiet mode.
However, the only difference between the two robot vacuum cleaners is the automatic dustbin emptying feature. The Roborock S7 MaxV Plus has an auto empty dock that automatically empties the dust canister in your robot when it’s full. In contrast, the Roborock S7 MaxV comes with a standard base charger. Thus, you would need to empty the dirt manually whenever it is full.
A Couple Of Alternative To Consider
Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni Vacuum And Mop
An excellent alternative to the Roborock S7 MaxV is the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni. Unlike the S7 MaxV, which comes with a base charger, the Deebot X1 Omni is purchased alongside a bulky docking station with many features. For example, the 400ml dust bin stores the dirt after being automatically emptied from the robot dust bag. The X1 Omni can also pump water from its onboard water tank into the robot and clean its own mopping pads. Additionally, with a 52,000 mAh battery, the X1 Omni can last for over 4 hours in quiet mode.
Equipped with a 5000PA, Roborock S7 MaxV narrowly beats the vacuuming power of the Ecovacs. Still, it does a brilliant job removing any dirt, pet hair, and debris from any floor types. The Deebot X1 Omni is also equipped with dual microfibre spinning clothes that can remove dirt easily, similar to the Roborock sonic mopping approach. Despite being expensive, usually priced around at $1500, the X1 Omni is a great alternative worth its price with its self-sufficient Omni station.
In our comparison post, you can read more on this model between the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni vs X1 Turbo.
Roborock S6 MaxV
The Roborock S6 MaxV is another excellent option if you cannot purchase the S7 MaxV model. Despite being slightly an older generation, the S6 MaxV model is equipped with a LiDAR system and two cameras that recognize obstacles and steer clear of them. It also features a 5200 mAh battery that can last for over 3 hours. Still, the S6 lacks in some areas. First is the 2500PA suction power of the S6 MaxV, which can vacuum hard floors efficiently but cannot clean carpets thoroughly.
In contrast, the S7 MaxV does quite well cleaning both hard floors and carpets with its powerful 5100PA. Unfortunately, Roborock S6 MaxV doesn’t feature the sonic mopping or VibraRise function while cleaning, so you should set no-go zones via the app to avoid the mop dragging over your carpets.
Still, the S6 MaxV is a great hybrid robot vacuum for cleaning at its price. It’s usually available for around $450 and can often be found in Prime Day or Black Friday sale.
