Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra vs Deebot X1 Omni: The quick answer

The Deebot X1 Omni and Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra are beasts in terms of cleaning. However, the Deebot X1 Omni’s vacuuming capabilities shine a bit, thanks to its immense suction power.

On the other hand, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is the best in terms of its mopping mode.

With great brushes and incredible rotational power, all gunk and dirt will come off in each cleaning session. I also prefer its features since they are tailored to Smart Home applications.

Both of these products have LiDAR mapping, self-disposal self-cleaning, and auto-charging capabilities. But, in terms of sheer usability, I prefer the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra overall. This does not mean that the Omni should be neglected. It’s just that the features of the MaxV Ultra overpower the latter. So let’s take a closer look at each model.

Product Overviews

Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni

ECOVACS DEEBOT X1 Omni Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo with Self-Emptying, Auto-Wash, Auto-Refill and...

The Deebot X1 Omni is an advanced 2-in-1 vacuum and mopping robot created by Ecovacs. It has a very powerful dock that allows self-charging and automatic disposal, washing, refilling, and drying of the device. Great for keeping soggy mopping pads from stinking. It is also equipped with avoidance technology to prevent your household objects or rogue socks from getting stuck.

The robot is an excellent mopper thanks to the turbo features and electronic water control. Also, the strong suction and mopping pad helps so that everything is squeaky clean. From its name, OMNI, one can say that the robot is truly all-powerful.

Something else that stands out about this model is the onboard OK YIKO Voice control. That allows voice commands without needing to connect to external devices such as Alexa. This is a nice feature for the elderly who may want a complete clean but without the complexity of Alexa or Google Home Assistant.

Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra

roborock S7 MaxV Ultra Robot Vacuum and Mop, Auto Mop Washing, Self-Emptying, Self-Refilling,...

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is part of Roborock’s epic S-series of vacuum cleaners. It combines the S7 MaxV robot with the fully automatic Ultra dock. Thanks to this combo, it is now possible for the system to engage in self-emptying, refilling, and mop washing activities. In addition, the robot vacuum is a powerhouse in terms of suction. It boasts around 5100 Pa of power, enough to remove even the most challenging impurities.

One of the best things about the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is its software. It is equipped with various AI Technologies that allow seamless mapping and tracking of an area and the ability to use voice commands via connecting to Alexa or Google Assistant.

However, my favorite feature is the auto lift mopping pad. This means the mopping pad at the back will be lifted when the robot detects a carpet or rug.

Similarities: side-by-side side comparison

Now that you know the basics of each robot vacuum, let us look at some shared features across both devices.

Automatic Emptying

Automatic emptying refers to a robot dock’s ability to purge collected dirt from vacuuming and mopping. This means owners do not need to open up the device and get accumulated junk. With the DEEBOT X1 Omni, a reliable 3L sealed bag is included. Based on an average-sized house, this can hold up to 60 days of debris. But, again, this is an automatic process during docking.

On the other hand, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra has an auto-emptying system with a 2.5L dirt bag. As a result, it can withstand 7 weeks of cleaning, depending on the environment and user habits. Through this feature, the burden of manual movement is reduced.

Automatic Refilling/Wash Fill Dock

Automatic refilling and washing refer to the robot’s ability to replenish dirty water for mopping and then get rid of dirt in the brushes.

For a long time, this has been one of the major bits of maintenance for robot vacuum and mop combos. Needing to fill the water tank daily and clean or change the mop pad removed the idealized concept of automation. However, these robots certainly take it a step further.

The DEEBOT X1 Omni has a 4L built-in water tank that guarantees proper water level while cleaning. Also, auto-wash helps simulate hand-washing through the hot air effect on the mop for maintenance purposes.

The Roborock S7 has the same capability through its unique washing system. This can be executed every after-cleaning session. Also, it has added the ability to refill the Empty Wash Fill Dock through a water tank that can cover around 300 sqm of mopping.

This is undoubtedly a massive positive for those looking for a complete floor cleaning solution and can really help take away the risk of funky smells that can come off mop pads if not properly cared for.

Onboard cameras

The Ecovacs X1 Omni front-facing camera is an excellent addition to your robot as it allows you to view your home in real time, even in low light. This camera also allows two-way audio communication, which is an excellent feature if you need a security robot to keep an eye on your home while you’re away.

The Roborock S7 MaxV Camera also has a front-facing camera that allows you to see in real-time what’s happening in your home, even in low light.

This camera also has reactiveAI 2.0, which is Roborock’s next generation of obstacle avoidance technology. This technology allows the robot to navigate common domestic hazards using its RGB camera and new neural processing unit. An additional light turns on in dark rooms, making obstacle recognition as effective at night as during the day.

Additionally, the 3D structured light systems supplement the RGB camera and can spot unknown objects, determine their size and location, and allow the robot to navigate around them. Ultimately, both cameras are great additions to your robot and offer beneficial features for keeping an eye on your home.

Smart mapping features

Both the ECOVACS DEEBOT X1 Omni and Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra have LiDAR-enhanced mapping capability. They even have a virtual lay outing of the rooms. This means that a user can see a 3D map of the virtual walls of the house in real time as the robots vacuum and mop the whole surface.

You can also set specific rooms in the app for targeting cleaning and setting no-go zones.

Battery Life

Both devices have a battery life of around 180 minutes or 3 hours. This equates to a capacity of more than 5000 mAH. With such a battery, it should be possible to clean around 3000 sq ft depending on settings. If you choose the highest power, it will likely be a bit less. However, with the help of self-charging, the robot returns to the base once the battery is low and will continue from where it left off once ready.

Running costs and replacement parts

From time to time you will need to replace parts such as:

  • HEPA filters
  • Brush rolls
  • Empty dock vacuum bags
  • Side brushes

The good news is on each model, these are cheap to replace. Pads and bags for both are usually found for a few dollars. Often the best value is found in buying sets such as these for the X1 Omni and these for the Roborock. Plenty of companies compete for compatible extras sales, which keeps the price low.

Overall, there is very little difference between the day-to-day running costs of these two vacuums.

Key Differences

Size and look

Although they do the same job, comparing the two vacuums aesthetically, they look very different. Often looks shouldn’t matter, but they do. When spending this much money, you do want to be able to look at it and smile inside.

If you like the more clean-cut, elegant approach, the X1 Omni is definitely more of a looker. However, the S7 MaxV has a more rugged, industrial charm. Personally, I shade the S7 for the look, but it is undoubtedly a matter of opinion.

Also, consider where it will be and the space it will fit into.

How big is the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra with base station?

The S7 MaxV Ultra dock has dimentions of 19.69 inches width x 19.69 inches depth x 16.93 inches height (50cm x 50 cm x 43cm).

How big is the Ecovacs X1 Omni?

The Ecovacs X1 Omni has dimentions of 16.92 inches width x 17.71 inches depth x 22.8 inches height (43cm x 45cm x 58cm)

So, I guess that back up my preference. The S7 MaxV is short and wide (like me), and the X1 Omni is taller and a little more slender.

Noise

The Roborck S7 MaxV vacuum runs at 52 – 57 dB while cleaning, depending on the selected mode. However, it gets closer to 70dB when auto emptying, just when the suction is happening. If you’re not ready for it, it can give you a little scare, but it passes quickly.

On the other hand, the Ecovacs X1 Omni has a much wider range, between 33 – 46 dBs, while cleaning. Moreover, it is a bit louder, 61 dBs, while performing the auto-empty tasks.

If you’re looking for the quietest option, the Ecovacs X1 Omni is quieter than the S7 MaxV Ultra.

Handling carpet

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra and the Ecovacs X1 Omni are equipped with technology that allows them to detect when they are on a carpet. However, the way that they handle this detection is different.

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra will automatically lift the mop when it detects a carpet to avoid dragging a dirty mop across clean floors. This is great for maximum automation as it can cover carpets and hardwood simultaneously without needing to remove any mopping pads.

However, this feature is only suitable for low-pile carpets no higher than 4mm. Therefore, this may not be a good fit if you have a high pile carpet or shag rugs.

The Ecovacs X1 Omni, on the other hand, has carpet detection but will simply avoid carpets when mopping, or it will increase suction if the mopping pads are not attached. While this could be better for high-pile and shag rugs, it does require more manual intervention. It’s also worth noting, it does have a bit of a habit of getting tangled in fringes, so best tuck them under when the robot is running.

For me, the Roborock S7 wins here, but that is because my home is wood and tile floor with low pile carpets. This means zero manual intervention is required. However, which model is better here will depend on your home.

Mopping Pads and Brushes

The X1 Omni is a superior unit in terms of mopping. It has two rotating mop pads compared to the single pad of Roborock S7. These two spinning mopping pads rotate in opposite directions for maximum efficiency.

But, the Roborock boasts ultrasonic mopping. This nifty feature agitates the mopping pad, using sound to vibrate more than 3000 times per minute. So no more simply dragging a damp cloth across a floor. If you want to know more about sonic mopping, I cover it in my Roborock S7 review.

While I like the spinning brushes, the sonic mopping is surprisingly effective. I must admit, I thought it was a marketing gimmick, but it does a great job. This, combined with the auto lifting of the mop, means I just about favor the S7 in this category.

Suction Power

Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra has a suction power of 5100 Pa compared to the 5000 Pa of X1 Omni. To be honest, you’re unlikely to notice a difference here.

Voice control

The main feature that the X1 Omni reigns supreme is the voice remote control. It is equipped with YIKO-based command, which is in-house with no need for Alexa or Google. Thus, the robot’s localization or ability to locate sound is exquisite.

If voice commands are important to you, then having an in-built system is superior to relying on having Alexa or Google Assistant set up, so the X1 wins here.

FAQs

Do the robots vacuum and mop at the same time?

Yes, these products can vacuum and mop simultaneously thanks to their advanced features, such as rotating pads and a self-emptying bas

Can these handle hard flooring and carpeted surfaces?

Yes. The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra lifts when there are carpeted surfaces, and the X1 Omni generally avoids carpet unless the mop pads are not attached. This behavior can be customized in the app.

Can I mop some places like the living room but not the garage?

You can easily set customized room cleaning in the app for both models.

Do they have cleaning solutions?

Yes, you can use the official Roborock Multi-surface Floor Cleaning Solution to mop. Ecovacs X1 Omni also has its own solution, but it can be challenging to track down. You should be able to use the Roborock one if it is easier to find.

What languages does the Ecovacs Yiko voice command support?

Currently, YIKO can support seven languages: English, German, French, Italian, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. You can select a language supported by YIKO in the app.

Will this Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra dock be available in white color?

According to an official Roborock source, the S7maxV Ultra only has a black version. It will not be available in white.

Deebot X1 Omni vs Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra: Final thoughts

So, the final answer. For me, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra wins this match-up. As a trusted company that has honed its vacuums and mops to the highest level, its latest product exceeds expectations. Despite being jam-packed with great mapping, docking, and fully automated features, it does not lose its suction and cleaning prowess.

I also love the way it handles carpet and floors at the same time. I have hardwood floors with a few low-pile rugs, which is perfect for my use.

However, a lot of the things I like about it are subjective. Many will think the X1 Omni has the better design and place a lot of importance on the built-in voice control.

But be assured that whichever you choose, you will get a great machine.
