Samsung Jetbot AI+ vs Roborock Q7+ – the quick answer

The Samsung Jetbot AI+ and the Roborock Q7 Max+ are two robot vacs with a robust build quality and impressive cleaning performance.

Both robots are almost on par in terms of vacuuming alone, but the Samsung Jet Bot AI+ is better at navigation and obstacle avoidance because it uses both LiDAR sensors and a camera.

While the Samsung will carefully avoid objects around the home, including loose cables, the Roborock may get stuck and need some help.

On the other hand, Roborock is better at edge cleaning and has a battery life of 180 minutes, which is double that of the Samsung Jet Bot AI+. The Roborock also has a mopping function, it’s actually a hybrid robot that can vacuum and mop simultaneously.

The Jet Bot AI+ is great if you want a high-end robot that only vacuums, but the Roborock will be a better choice if you want the extra mop function. The mop function is actually average, but it’s still a plus.

Side by side comparison

Size and look

The Q7 Max+ and the Jet Bot AI+ are both beautiful robot vacuums with a robust build quality.

Roborock Q7 Max+ has the standard circular design of robot vacuums with an upward-facing protrusion that resembles an eye. The Q7 Max+ is about 3.8 inches tall, 13.8 inches in diameter and weighs 8.3 pounds.

In contrast, the Samsung Jet Bot AI+ is 5.5 inches tall, with an elegant-looking D-shaped design and weighs 10 pounds.

Navigation/Obstacle avoidance

The best robot vacuum cleaners have an excellent navigation system to ensure optimal cleaning performance. The Jet Bot AI+ and Q7+ both excel in this regard.

The Samsung Jet Bot AI+ uses a combination of LiDAR sensors and camera for navigation, and does really well when it comes to avoiding obstacles and clutter, even loose cables that are notoriously tough to avoid. Despite its large size, the Samsung Jet Bot AI+ does a fantastic job of navigating in confined spaces.

Roborock Q7+ also uses LiDAR sensors to find its way around the home, but unlike the Samsung Jetbot, it doesn’t have a camera. The Q7 is able to accurately avoid obstacles like furniture and walls. However, small objects around the home like toys, cables, socks, etc., can be a problem for the robot. Before sending the Q7 Max+ robot vacuum to clean, you will need to clear the floors by removing anything that might be an obstacle, something you won’t need to do with the Samsung Jet Bot AI+.

Brush rolls

The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a soft roller-style brush that tends to be more useful on hard surfaces than carpets. To prevent tangles around the brush, the high efficiency self-cleaning brush roll has fine, anti-static fibers and self-cleaning extractors that ground up hairs, which means that it’s great at sweeping up pet hair.

While antistatic fibers don’t become tangled with repeated usage, they don’t have the same carpet-cleaning power as a regular bristled brush. However, the bristled brushes are less durable and more difficult to maintain.

The Q7 Max+ also comes with a bristle-less rubber brush roll, which is easy to clean and maintain. Unlike the Samsung Jet Bot AI+, the Roborock Q7 Max+ has 2 brushes, a primary brush roll and a side brush for edge cleaning. Samsung AI+ doesn’t have a side brush.

Cleaning performance

Jet bot AI+ does a good job of collecting all the tiny bits of dirt and trash around the home. When it gets on carpets and rugs, the suction force noticeably increases. It will automatically adjust its suction power based on the surface. After cleaning, it will return on its own to the base that serves as both a charging station and a self-emptying base. The self-emptying base’s bag is immediately filled with the entire contents of the dustbin.

The Q7 Max+ moves purposefully across the floor, cleaning the room’s corners before moving to the center in an S-pattern. It doesn’t bang into furniture, walls, or doors and isn’t very loud either. It has a dirt sensor for better dirt detection.

The Roborock Q7 Max+ proved effective at cleaning edges despite having a spherical frame; it only required a few passes to collect most of the dirt. And its Carpet Boost feature increased its suction when it passed over area rugs, clearing them of all dirt and debris. The Roborock also has a mopping feature with a 350 milliliter water tank and a mop pad.

Automatic emptying

These two robot vacuums are self-emptying, with a self-emptying dock which doubles as a charging station. After each cleaning, these robots will return to the clean station to empty their dustbin.

For the Roborock Q7, this process can be set as automatic or manual; automatic means the robot will do it while for manual, you will need to start the process yourself. This setting option is because the self-cleaning process can be noisy.

A dust bag is already included in the Q7 Max+ auto-empty dock plus an extra bag in the box, you only need to replace it around once every 7 weeks. Additional dust bags are available from Roborock for some dollars for a pack of 9 bags.

Smart mapping features

Both the Samsung Jet Bot AI Plus and Roborock Q7 Max+ have enhanced mapping capabilities, thanks to their LiDAR sensors. The Jet Bot AI Plus can recognize appliances automatically and add them to the map in the SmartThings app. In case it gets things wrong, you can edit and add.

The Q7 Max+ uses a LiDAR mapping technology to create a 2D or 3D map, and you can alternate between the two. From the Roborock app you may add more floors, split rooms, mark specific cleaning zones, and even define the kind of floor or the order in which rooms should be cleaned.

App and voice controls

Both the Samsung Jet Bot AI+ and the Roborock Q7+ have Alexa and Google Home for even more convenient cleaning.

When the Jet Bot AI+ cleans for the first time, the Samsung SmartThings app will show a map of your floors, and it will then automatically label the rooms. The map can then be tweaked to add no-go areas, which is great for improving its cleaning effectiveness.

The Q7 Max+ may be controlled from your smartphone using the Roborock app. The app has a ton of options that let you do things like add furniture, make invisible boundaries, stop the robot from entering certain rooms or sections, specify different types of flooring, etc. You can also control scheduling, and manage a wide range of additional settings from the app.

Every feature of the roborock Q7 Max+ robot vacuum cleaner can be controlled via the app

Key differences

Suction power

With a rating of 4200 Pa, the Q7 Max+ offers incredibly strong suction for a robot vacuum (Pascal units). It offers the four suction settings: Quiet, Balanced, Turbo, and Max. Using the Roborock app, you can also adjust the suction mode according to the room. While the Samsung has a single suction mode that is quite powerful too. Both robots will increase suction power when they encounter carpets.

Battery life

With a 5,200 mAh battery, the Q7 Max+ can continuously clean for 3 hours, according to Roborock. It has a runtime of 180 minutes and can vacuum up to 3,229 sq ft area before needing a recharge. Samsung falls short in this regard, with only 90 minutes of cleaning time on a full charge.

Mopping function

Samsung Jet Bot AI+ does not have a mopping function, but the Roborock Q7 Max+ does. After the vacuuming process, the Q7 Max+ uses water from the tank and a mop pad to clean the floors. It has a decent mopping performance, although not as good as the sonic mop on the Roborock S7 model.

On-device controls

The Q7 Max+ has 3 buttons on the top of the vacuum cleaner: the Power/Clean button, which allows you to turn the robot on or off, or start a cleaning cycle. The Spot Clean/Child Lock button, which allows you to clean in zones and doubles as a child lock. And the Dock button for sending the robot back to the dock.

The Samsung Jet Bot AI+ also has 3 buttons on the device: Power switch, Start/Stop button and the Home button. The robot vacuum cleaner can be turned on and off using the power switch. The start/stop button is to initiate or pause a cleaning cycle, and the home button is to return the robot vacuum to its base to charge and empty the dust bin.

Warranty

Both the Samsung Jetbot AI+ and Roborock Q7 Max+ are backed by a 12-month quality assurance coverage from their respective manufacturers.

FAQs

How well do they clean on high-pile carpets?

Robot vacuums are generally not very good at cleaning high-pile carpets. Therefore, these two robots will not clean high-pile carpets very well.

Can you disable the mop function on the Q7+?

Yes, you can set vacuum only mode in the App, or you can uninstall the mop mount.

Can they go under furniture?

Samsung Jetbot AI+ cannot really go under furniture because of its height, but the RoboRock can if the furniture has a safety clearance of about 15 cm to 20 cm (6 to 8 inches).

Does the Q7+ stop mopping when it detects carpet?

The Q7Max doesn’t have carpet detection for mopping. You can draw a no-mop zone on the map to prevent it from mopping your carpet.

Are the dust bags reusable?

The dust bags are disposable, and you can purchase replacements on Amazon. You should replace them every 2 to 3 months. The Samsung version dust bags are available in a pack of 5, while the Q7 version comes in a 9-pack.

Roborock Q7+ vs Samsung Jetbot AI+ – final thoughts

So, the final answer. For me, the Samsung Jet Bot AI+ wins this match-up. Even though it lacks an edge-sweeping brush and a mop function, it’s still better at avoiding objects around the home. The Jet Bot AI+ is absolutely fantastic at finding its way around obstacles and tight spaces, and it will pick up all forms of dirt particles, plus the auto-cleaning process is very reliable.

The Roborock Q7+ is also a great machine with an impressive battery life and good cleaning performance, but it’s navigation is really not at the same level as the Jet Bot AI+
