The quick answer

The best mop robot when it comes to pure mopping power for me is the iRobot Braava Jet M6. The rectangular design is more than capable of delivering neat mopping processes at a very fast pace.

Finding the best robot mop can be overwhelming as it is a one-time and expensive investment. To find the best product for you, you should know the best product for you, you should know the requirements and limitations of your home.

On the other hand, the Bissell SpinWave features a circular spinning mop that is good but does not fit my preferences well. This does not mean, however, that the robot is not a capable device. It is also a premium mop that can go toe to toe with anything.

Product Overviews

iRobot Braava Jet M6

iRobot Braava Jet M6 (6110) Ultimate Robot Mop- Wi-Fi Connected, Precision Jet Spray, Smart Mapping,...

The iRobot Braava Jet M6 is known as one of the best robot mop devices in existence. It has Precision Jet Spray equipped, Smart Mapping, vibrating cleaning head, as well as self-charging capabilities.

Precision jet spray ensures water goes where you want it rather than spraying all over the furniture, cabinets, and walls.

A user can command the Braava Jet to start or stop a cleaning process whenever and wherever they want, and they will simply follow. Also, it is very versatile as it can deal with both large and small areas of a house.

The Braava Jet m6 is compact, at 3.5 by 10.0 by 10.6 inches (HWD). It weighs five pounds, making it easy to pick up and move around the house. The top panel holds a rear docking sensor, a camera, and a carrying handle.

The top is also home to the lid that covers the water tank, above which you’ll find Home, Clean, and Spot Clean buttons, as well as the RCON sensor (room confinement). Lights around the lid are solid when the robot is fully charged and blink when it’s charging.

Another thing that I like the most about the iRobot Braava Jet M6 is that it is tailored towards Smart Mapping, meaning that it can learn a virtual layout of your house. If you desire a robot solely focused on dry or wet mopping then the Braava jet fits you.

Bissell SpinWave Robot

Bissell SpinWave Hard Floor Expert Pet Robot, 2-in-1 Wet Mop and Dry Robot Vacuum, WiFi Connected...

If the iRobot Braava Jet M6 is considered by many as the top 1 mopping robot, then the Bissell SpinWave is said to be its closest competitor. It is a device that is a beast on hardwood floors and can mop, dry, and vacuum at the same time. The best thing about it is that it can be connected through Wi-Fi, giving a user premier control anytime, anywhere.

The Bissell SpinWave looks like many robot vacuums on the market. It has the classic round Roomba body shape, with one noticeable exception. A pair of circular cloth scrubbing pads protrude from the robot’s back.

Supplied with a cleaning solution (water plus Bissell’s soap formula), these pads rotate while the SpinWave roams around your home. Bissell says this scrubbing action wipes dirt and stains away from hardwood floors and other hard surfaces.

The robot also uses twin brushes on the front to grab any solid debris it encounters. These bits of dirt are then sucked up by the SpinWave’s vacuum nozzle. The padding follows up from the rear to scrub the debris-free area spotless.

You also have the option of using the SpinWave as a standard robot vacuum. Simply swap the water tank mopping attachment with the regular dustbin.

Bissell’s SpinWave wet and dry robot vacuum is one of the best robot mops for wood floors. Like some robot floor cleaners, this one has both mopping and vacuuming capabilities.

But what makes it ideal for hardwood floors is a special wood-floor formula that works with its dual spinning brushes to leave floors spotless.

One thing that I like about Bissell SpinWave is that a portion of your purchase goes to animal foundations. As a pet-lover, this suits my tastes as I am helping a homeless pet with each transaction. Other than that, the battery life is also very beneficial in the long run.

The Bissell SpinWave is a vacuum and wet mop in one, and it offers a superior runtime and several advanced features to make your life easier. It has a two-tank system one for vacuuming and one for mopping.

Side by side comparison

Let us take a look at some features that are similar to the SpinWave and Jet M6.

Robot Mops Sensors

Sensors refer to the devices or units that provide input values to the robot mop. These are important as they serve as the eyes and ears for navigation as well as to avoid contact with other objects.

Both the SpinWave and Jet M6 have this feature, and this makes them amazing in dealing with hazards. For example, the cliff sensors prevent falling, while the anti-collision sensors reduce dangers that might damage it. Thus, there is no need to worry regarding endurance and quality as long as the sensors are fine.

The wet mopping mode with the mop pads and cleaning solution gently scrub away the hardest grime. While wet mopping, the Soft Surface Avoidance Sensor helps avoid the carpeted areas efficiently.

Robot Mop Row Cleaning Pattern

Row cleaning pattern refers to the movement created by a robot mop to efficiently clean the entirety of a house. When it comes to both the Braava Jet M6 and Bissell SpinWave, this becomes a breeze as they are both equipped with this system.

Instead of randomly moving around the house in undefined patterns, the robots will make use of a logical selection of rows to deal with everything.

The Best Robot Mops to Keep Your Floors Spic and Span You’ve heard of robot vacuums, but if you have mostly hard floors in your home, a robot mop might be a worthwhile alternative for hands-off cleaning.

App control

App control is essential to any modern robot mop or robot vacuum as it can be said that everything now relies on smartphones and android or iOS devices. Fortunately, this feature is present on the Braava M6 and SpinWave, making them reliable in terms of controllability.

Also, you can even schedule cleaning times and four different cleaning modes on the app which makes it extra valuable. The BISSELL Connect App gives you access to quick features like start, stop, and scheduling cleaning cycles.

Robot Vacuum Recharge and Resume

Recharge and resume are sought-after features in today’s robot market. After all, it allows a device to do its thing without any human intervention. For starters, this feature is described by a robot’s ability to locate its dock and recharge itself the moment battery life reaches a critical level.

In the Braava M6 and SpinWave, this feature is present. This means that the need to pick up the robot in case charging is needed is removed.

iRobot Braava Jet M6 has automatic recharges and resumes cleaning technology

Power Consumption of Robot Vacuums

In terms of power consumption, both robots run at almost similar levels. The iRobot Braava Jet M6 is at around 100 watts while the Bissell SpinWave is 98 Watts.

Power consumption generally means better mopping power at the cost of added electricity bills. Thus, everything depends on your preference in this section.

Bissell SpinWave has powerful suction with up to 1500 Pa to clean debris on carpet and hard surfaces

Key Differences

These are the features of both robotic mops that are very different from each other.

2-in-1 Cleaning

2-in-1 cleaning modes refer to a robot’s ability to function as a robot mops and robot vacuum at the same time. Of the two models, only the Bissell SpinWave wet is capable of this, as it is a robot designed for drying, vacuuming, and mopping.

On the other hand, the iRobot Braava Jet M6 is solely hardwired for mopping functionality. However, it has an added feature wherein you can connect other iRobot devices such as robot vacuum and mop simultaneously.

It has an extra-large tank with separate vessels for clean and dirty water. It works on tile, stone, and wood flooring by spraying clean water, scrubbing with a microfiber roller, and removing dirty water with suction. It also has a rubber scraper to wipe off any residue.

The cleaning pads have rich and long microfibers composed of Mother Yarn for superior cleaning. It is shown to be 100 times thicker than regular microfiber, making it ideal for mopping up liquid and cleaning cracks and crevices.

Weight

Another difference that is present is weight or dimensions. The Bissell SpinWave is a bit heavy at 15 pounds while the Braava M6 is only at 4.85 pounds.

Mop Design

The greatest difference between the two comes in the form of mop design. The design of the Braava Jet M6 is square-shaped, meaning that it does well with sweeping surfaces in a straightforward manner.

On the other hand, the Bissell SpinWave, as the name suggests, is equipped with circular mop pad units that rotate and “spin” to get rid of dirt. I like the Braava Jet design better as it is tidier in the long run.

An alternative to consider

If you do not want to engage with both bots’ high prices, then the ILIFE Shinebot W450 is a device that I highly recommend. It scrubs and mops the entire house, and has active Wi-Fi control. The water tank is also bulky, meaning that it can store liquid for cleaning purposes for a long time.

When it comes to the sale price, this device is not far from the others. Thus, it is a robot mop that is worthy of affection if you want another option.

FAQs

Does it work with rugs and carpet?

Sadly, only a few mops are capable of working with rugs and carpets. The iRobot Braava Jet M6 and Bissell SpinWave do not belong to these units as they do best in hardwood floorings.

Can you add other liquids such as soap to the tank? Does it work with rugs and carpets?

Yes, the water tanks can be filled with soap water. However, this maneuver is not recommended as it is possible to damage the insides of the robots if an improper liquid is used. Thus, it is better and safer to stick to water only and cleaning solutions of the manufacturer.

Does it have Wi-Fi control?

For every robotic mop, wi-fi control is essential. Luckily, this device is equipped with a wi-fi module that can connect to the internet and allow it to be controlled over great distances.

How do I clean the device?

The device can be easily cleaned with a clean cloth. You can just wipe the surface and even the sensors, as well as remove stuck gunk in the pads.

Can the robots charge themselves?

Yes, both devices can recharge and resume. This means that once the batteries reach an alarming level, they will automatically be prompted to go to the dock and recharge without the need for someone to pick them up.

Final thoughts

Overall, the iRobot Braava Jet M6 and Bissell SpinWave are both good robots, but it all boils down to your preference. If you want a robot that can vacuum and mop at the same time, then the Bissell SpinWave is perfect for you! On the other hand, if you desire a robot solely focused on dry or wet mopping, then the Braava Jet M6 fits you well.

For me, I choose the iRobot Braava Jet M6 as it will serve me well in terms of smart mapping.
