For a long time, iRobot Roombas were considered the best robot vacuum cleaners. But with the increasing demand for hybrid robot vacuums with mopping functionality, the Roomba hasn’t been able to meet that demand.
Last year, iRobot released their first robot vacuum and mop combo; the Roomba J7+ Combo, and it came with a lot of promise.
Ever since, we’ve put the Combo J7+ to several tests, comparing it to some of our favorite hybrid robots to see how it stands.
Now, we’re looking at a comparison between the Roomba J7 Plus Combo and the Dreametech L10s Ultra. We’ll dive into the features, performance, and overall value of each vacuum to help you decide which one is worth investing in.

The quick answer
The iRobot Roomba is obviously a bigger name than the DreameTech Dreamebot, but we’re comparing two hybrid robot vacuums here, and the iRobot is not known for that.
Actually, the Roomba J+ Combo is the first hybrid vacuum+mop robot from iRobot. But since the Roomba is already a giant in the smart home products and gadget industry, you’d expect nothing less than exceptional performance for any of their products, right?
Well, that’s not really the case here. While the Roomba J7+ Combo is an excellent vacuuming bot, the mopping functionality is a little disappointing. The Combo J7+ doesn’t do any real mopping, it simply just drags a wet mop pad around the floor.
The Dreamebot L10s Ultra, in contrast, has an overall excellent design and setup. It has an excellent vacuuming performance, with an equally impressive mopping function. The setup of the L10s Ultra is more hand-off than the Combo J7+.
But the Dreamebot base station gets messy after washing the mop pads, I think that’s a design flaw that will probably be corrected in a later version of the robot.

Dreamebot L10s Ultra
The Dreametech L10s Ultra is an impressive robot vacuum/mop combo and one of the most technologically advanced robot vacuums available on the market. It uses two spinning brushes with remarkable suction power, intelligent and obstacle detection to clean and mop your floors.
Dreamebot L10s uses a tangle-free rubber brush, one edge-sweeping brush, and a 5300 Pa for enhanced vacuuming strength to efficiently remove pet hair and dirt particles. It uses AI action, 3D structured light and an RGB camera for improved navigation and obstacle avoidance during cleaning.
It also has a long-lasting battery with up to 210 minutes of cleaning time, and an auto empty charging base station that recharges the battery, empties the dust bin, refills the water tanks, and cleans the mopping pads.

Size and look
The iRobot Roomba Combo J7+ and Dreamebot L10s Ultra are well-built robot vacuums and feel pretty solid. They both have the same basic circular shape as most robot vacuums, with a glossy finish but different color (white for Dreamebot and black for the Roomba).
Dreamebot is 3 inches tall and 13 inches in diameter. While the slightly bigger Roomba j7+ measures 13.3 inches in diameter and 3.4 inches tall.
The L10s has a better chance of getting under furniture, but neither of them will get under low furniture.
The ability of robot vacuum cleaners to intelligently navigate their surroundings and smartly avoid obstacles positively impacts their cleaning performance.
Roomba J7+ comes with iRobot’s Precision Vision Navigation system, while the Dreamebot L10s uses a combination of LiDAR sensors, an RGB camera and 3D structured light for nighttime cleaning.
But how do they perform in real life? Well, they both do a pretty good job of detecting and avoiding common objects around the home.
Dreamebot L10s performs amazingly well, it has a near-accurate navigation system. The L10s will accurately identify and avoid objects around the home, and it almost never gets stuck. It will slightly bump into objects as it drives through the floors, and continue cleaning without problems.
Roomba J7+ also has an impressive navigation system, it’s smart enough to go around obstacles on the floors, but will miss some spots, which is somewhat disappointing for a high-end Roomba. Overall, the ability to avoid obstacles was pretty decent, but not outstanding.
The Dreamebot L10s seems to be ahead of the Roomba J7+ on navigation alone, it does a more complete and impressive job.
Cleaning performance
The DreameBot L10S Ultra is an excellent robot vacuum with exceptional performance. It effectively sweeps up all debris, regardless of the type of floor or debris.
Some cleaning tests revealed that it will get rid of up to 98% of all debris on all floor types. This performance is much better than the standard for most robot vacuum cleaners.
Roomba J7+ Combo, on the other hand, is also very effective at vacuuming and dirt removal. It performs really well, especially on hard flooring, and will readily pick up all sorts of debris including kitty litter, sand, fine dust particles, etc.
Comparing the performance of these two robot vacuums on carpets revealed that the Dreamebot L10s provides better pick on high-pile carpets, than the Combo J7+, while the latter is better for low-pile carpets.
App & voice control
As you would expect, both the Combo J7+ and L10s Ultra have mobile apps for controlling and customizing cleaning settings.
Controlling and personalizing your cleaning experience is simple with the DreameHome app or the iRobot Home app for each of the robots. You can clean a single room rather than a complete floor plan simply selecting a room on your map before beginning a job.
Both Roomba and Dreamebot can connect to Alexa & Google Assistant to provide voice commands.
Key differences
Mopping performance
The Combo j7+ performed quite well when mopping, it has a useful feature that allows the mop to lift its mopping pad out of the way so that it may vacuum carpet or rugs without getting them wet.
In contrast to other robot vacs, the Combo J7+ lifts the mopping pad off the floor and puts it on top of the device, this feature prevents even a drop of water from getting on carpets.
In spite of this novel feature, the iRobot Roomba Combo is still not the best for mopping because it simply drags a wet pad across the floor, and does no real mopping.
Conversely, the Dreamebot L10s actually scrubs the floor in order to remove stubborn stains and fully clean them. It uses two spinning mop pads that rotate in different directions at 180 rpm. And it doesn’t clean with just water, it comes with a cleaning solution that is added to the water before mop cleaning.
The L10s mops really well, but there’s a catch to it. The mopping pads don’t reach the edge of the floors, so you’ll have to manually mop edges and corners.
Similar to the Combo J7+, the L10s Ultra can also simultaneously vacuum and mop. While mopping, it will lift the mopping pads when the sensors detect a carpet. And it does this really well, so you don’t have to worry about your carpets getting wet, cause they won’t.
Automated maintenance
Automated maintenance is becoming a big in robot vacuums, especially hybrid robots with both vacuuming and mopping functionalities.
This feature is seen in most new premium robots like the Roborock S7 MaxV, the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni, even newer brands like the Narwal Freo and Dreamebot L10s Ultra have automated maintenance for the mopping function, but not the Roomba J7+ Combo.
The docking station of the Dreamebot L10s is designed to help with maintaining the robot. In addition to the auto-empty and recharge-and-resume feature, it can also wash and dry the mop pads after every mopping run.
While this feature is not perfect, it greatly helps to improve the hands-off functionality of the DreameTech robot. First, you won’t have to worry so much about always cleaning after your robot, although you will still have to clean the base station, plus refill the clean water, empty the dirty water tank and replace the dust bag when necessary.
Brush rolls
This is yet another difference in these robot vacuums. Both robots have a tangle-free rubber center brush as the primary sweeping brush, but the L10s has a single side brush for sweeping edges and corners. In contrast, the Roomba J7+ uses a twin brush roll as the primary sweeping brush and a side brush for edge sweeping.
The dual rubber brush rolls are found in only iRobot vacuums and are very effective, and contributes to the already excellent robot vacuum sweeping ability of the robot.
Despite the difference in brush roll design, both the l10s Ultra and the Combo J7+ are great at picking up pet hair and long hair strands from both hardwood floors and carpets. They will collect almost all shed fur from different floor types without tangling their brushes.
Battery life
The iRobot j7+ Combo’s battery performance is decent, with a battery capacity of 2210 mAh. On a single charge, it can operate for about 85 to 100 minutes. However, Dreamebot has a bigger 5200 mAh battery with a longer life of 210 minutes for the lowest suction setting in vacuum-only mode.
Suction power
Roomba doesn’t declare the suction rating of their robots, so we can’t say for sure how it compares with the Dreamebot. However, Dreamebot has a 5300 Pa suction rating, which is undoubtedly impressive.
It’s no wonder the L10s robot vac is great at vacuuming, since higher suction means more dirt pick-up and better cleaning power, especially on carpeted areas. If you have carpeted floors in your home or have pets that shed a lot, the L10s is obviously a good fit for your home.
On-device control
While these two robots are majorly controlled from their mobile apps, they still have few buttons on the device for basic controls.
There is a single button at the top of the Roomba Combo j7+ for starting, pausing, or resuming a cleaning cycle. You can also send the robot home by holding the button down.
For Dreamebot, there are 3 touch buttons on the device; Power/Clean button, Spot Clean button, and Dock button. The L10s also have 3 buttons on the clean base. These buttons will get the robot to leave the base station, clean and dry.
Operating noise
When it comes to robot vacuums, the quieter the robot the better. However, these gadgets cannot be completely quiet, so much noise should you expect from each of these vacuuming robots.
The DreameTech robot is much quieter than the Roomba J7+, with a noise rating of 43.2 – 49.6 dB, and peak volume of 72 dB during the auto-emptying process. The louder Combo J7+ has a noise rating of 69.3 dB and 85.4 dB while self-emptying. The Roomba is quite loud and can disrupt normal conversations.

The water is small (210 ml), so I would estimate it can mop between 400 and 600 square feet on one tank.
Does the Dreametech robot get tangled on wires?
No, it does not. The Dreametech robot is actually very intelligent and able to smartly navigate around the home. And if it encounters a tricky situation, it’s able to maneuver and always find a way out of the situation without external help. Dreamebot L10s Ultra has a better navigation system than the Roomba J+ Combo.
Will the Roomba J7+ bash into furniture?
Yes. It still bumps into objects a lot, but it doesn’t leave any marks. The onboard camera appears to be used less for boundary recognition and more for determining what room the robot is in.
The Dreamebot will also occasionally bump into furniture, but the bump is usually gentle and doesn’t leave marks.
What is the warranty time for these robots?
Both robots come with 1-year warranty from their manufacturer’s, but the Roomba has an additional Pet Owner’s Official Promise. The iRobot’s P.O.O.P. (Pet Owner Official Promise) is for pet owners. This is a promise to replace the Roomba for free if it goes over pet poop within the first year of purchase.
Final thoughts
The Roomba J7 Plus Combo vs Dreametech L10s Ultra are both excellent options for anyone who wants a hassle-free cleaning experience. While both vacuums offer similar features and functionality, there are some notable differences to consider when making a final decision.
The Roomba Combo J7 is an excellent choice for those with pets, but the mopping performance of the Roomba is underwhelming when compared to the Dreamebot, despite the inventive robot arm.
The DreameBot L10s is simply the better robot both for vacuuming and mopping, it also has a bigger battery, impressive suction, great navigation and overall impressive design. It’s also more expensive than the Roomba, but it’s a better buy.
If iRobot is serious about making hybrid robot vacuum cleaners, then they have to really improve the integrated mopping function in the next version of the Roomba J7+ Combo.
