1-Minute Review Samsung Jet Bot Plus Robot Vacuum Review

SAMSUNG Jet Bot+ Robot Vacuum Cleaner w/ Clean Station, Automatic Emptying, Precision Cleaning,...

The Samsung Jet Bot+ Robot Vacuum has everything that the normal Jet Bot has. However, it is newly improved with an automatic emptying base which means that there is no need to spend lots of time cleaning up the dustbin for maintenance. Similar to the Jet Bot, it has precise cleaning, HEPA Filters, Intelligent Power Control, and optimized cleaning, especially for carpets, and rugs.

One feature that I like about the cleaner is that it has enhanced navigation systems with the use of LiDAR sensors that can be controlled with a smartphone. Also, there is an option to choose zones of cleaning or spots that should be focused on. Not only that, but real-time tracking is very beneficial in knowing where the robot is at a specific point in time. The SmartThings app greatly helps in ensuring proper control and monitoring of the device.

Here are the pros and cons of the Jet Bot+:

The boons of the robot outweigh the banes, making it a very good vacuum. Remember that choosing the JetBot Plus has its own strengths and weaknesses.

Let’s take a closer look

In this section, we will review the operation of the robot as well as its overall reliability.

How it works

At a closer glance, there is really no observable difference between the JetBot and JetBot+ Vacuum except for the presence of the self-emptying cleaning base. The robot combines software and cleaning tools to work. It begins by mapping the surface of the house using LiDAR navigation. Furthermore, an Infrared Sensor is used as an obstacle sensor to avoid collisions.

The vacuum has multiple modes, including normal mode, selective mode, and max mode. Normal mode refers to the automatic movement of the robot where it chooses the optimal route. The selective mode makes the user select certain zones of concern where it needs to focus on. Lastly, the max mode is the most suction that also makes use of high electricity input.

It also includes a brush that scrapes off most materials that are bombarding your floor surfaces. These are used to minimize the dirt that is present in your house.

Performance

The robot is priced higher than the original variant. When it comes to performance, it is also similar to the regular JetBot. It has optimal suction that bases suction power on the type of flooring that it cleans.  Furthermore, the run time of the robot is 1 hour and 30 minutes, which is considered hefty when compared to other products at the same price. The 9W power requirement means that it needs to be changed frequently, but the operation still remains smooth due to the docking procedure.

Limitations

  • Long Repeated Cleaning
  • Same Spot Focus
  • Dirt stays in the bin for some time
  • Not reusable bag

No vacuum in the world is perfect. Thus, the Samsung JetBot+ is bound to have some drawbacks. One of these is the long-repeated cleaning that may occur during its operation. A whole room might need one or two runs just to accomplish.

Another is the same spotfocus that might sound beneficial but is actually a problem. The robot sometimes becomes hard-headed and does not proceed to other spots.

The first is that the dirt in the base might stay for a long time if a user does not choose to throw the bag away. This can be an issue for those who are concerned with house cleanliness. Another is that the bag is not reusable, meaning that it can never be recycled for another use. Combined, these can mean additional expenses.

Ease of setup and usage

In terms of set-up and first usage, the robot is very intuitive. There is only a need to assemble the station, wires, plugs, and brush and rollers, so it is not a very complicated process. One should check on the presence of the components, especially the disposable bags. For first-time users, there is a need to turn the button on and pair it with the SmartThings application which gives full control and monitoring.

The SmartThings app can be installed on any smartphone through Playstore and Apple App Store. It is an all-in-one, user-friendly smartThings app that has access to all of Samsung’s smart appliances. If you have a Samsung account, sign-up should not be a problem. Once the app is started, the robot can be paired using a wireless internet connection and contact through app control.

Reliability

The robot is a reliable tool to work in any house setting. The main way that it ensures the protection of household members is through HEPA filtering. There are filters equipped in the dust bin that fully traps small dust particles not visible to the naked eye. There are also the multi-brush and rollers that help in scraping off gunk, corrosion, and other contaminants on the floor.

Another feature that changes the game for Samsung Jet Bot+ users is the possible Alexa, Google, and Bixby integration. With these, issuing voice commands becomes a real breeze, and you can even integrate them into your smart home system.

Finally, what I liked most about the Samsung JetBot+ is that it functions very quiet despite the cleaning mode you choose. I have tried running it at Max Mode several times, but the noise levels were not too loud, to the point where I can still use it even at nighttime.

Ongoing Maintenance

The product involves 3 major processes. These are cleaning the dust bin, rollers, and brushes, as well as wiping the robot.

The dust bin can be accessed with the use of the lid in the robot. Once opened, the cap can be removed and extracted. One can just let the robot handle the disposal processes.

On the other hand, the rollers and brushes can be accessed on the underside of the vacuum. The roller has a button that can be slid for complete removal. On the other hand, the brush can be opened using a coin or a large screw. To clean these parts, a cloth can be used for the roller and a scraper for the brush and wheels.

For aesthetic and cleanliness, the whole vacuum can be regularly wiped with a clean cloth. Remember to never use water since it might harm the circuitry inside the vacuum.

Extra Purchases and ongoing costs

Some extra purchases that come into mind with the Samsung Jet Bot+ is the disposable bag that needs to be replaced every once that the self-emptying station becomes full. Another one is the warranty extension, but it is the user’s discretion whether they want to do this or not. Another product that goes together with the Jet Bot+ is the Samsung Jet Bot Mop.

You should also not forget about electricity bills, since this automated vacuum needs frequent charging for full utility. Other than that, the robot is standalone and is ready to be used right out of the box.

A couple of alternatives to consider

If you are thinking about a good alternative robot vacuum, then the Roborock S6 MaxV is the best choice. It is priced almost the same as the Jet Bot+ and has considerable suction power paired with amazing LiDAR navigation. It even has the added benefit of object recognition which the Jet Bot+ does not have. Overall, it will match up nicely against the Jet Bot+, and the manufacturer is a known robotics company that has built enough credibility in the market.

Another alternative that you should keep your eye on is the iRobot Roomba i7+. It is one of the more advanced robots of the company, and also has a self-emptying base that helps take care of the collected dust and dirt particles. This device works well on houses that have pets as it easily takes care of fur and pet hair.

FAQs

Are Samsung robot vacuum cleaners any good?

Yes, Samsung is a well-known company that produces thousands of electronic solutions including appliances, mobile phones, and even emerging technologies such as VR. They have extensive experience in improving the lives of people with advanced features, so it is only natural that their vacuums are also very good.

Are self-emptying stations worth the hype?

Many people might discuss that self-emptying stations are accessories that are not very beneficial. However, the truth is that these tools are very helpful, especially to those that are too busy with their everyday work. Few might appreciate this great value, but it is really helpful in a real-world scenario.

What are the best robot vacuums and mop 2021?

Ranking the best robot vacuum is hard since the competition continuously changes with each model release. However, it is safe to say that the best vacuum is one that satisfies your needs without being too expensive. Thus, there is a need to check on different brands and models for the best choice.

Can the robot work without Wi-Fi?

Yes! Jet Bot robot vacuums function without Wi-Fi. However, you need a working internet connection to feel the full power of this device. The app control is too good to let go, as it allows scheduling, choosing of modes, no-go zones, select; go, and other important features. A single button allows the robot to operate, but the full functionality is achieved with the use of the application.

How many watts does it run at and how much power is required for a full clean?

Similar to a regular Jet Bot, this vacuum cleaner also functions at 5 watts for 1.5 hours. While this might seem small for some users, it actually provides huge benefits. Despite this runtime, the robot charges automatically, so there is no need to worry about depletion. The power required for a full cleaning process is hard to gauge since different floor types, room sizes, and materials need to be assessed.

Final thoughts

The Samsung Jet Bot+ Vacuum is an improvement of the Jet Bot and has some serious features worthy of praise. Overall, it is a great robot companion for your home, since it has powerful suction paired with amazing mapping and convenient auto-emptying. It may have weaknesses, but they are not enough to overpower the benefits of this robot.

The Jet Bot+ is perfect for robot owners of any level, be it first-timers or those who just want to try another brand. There are claims that this series is one of the smartest in the market, and I can attest to that. It is a robot that will surely keep your place tidy regardless of your busy schedule.
