*This is an estimated figure as iRobot uses its values for suction power and efficiency

Like anything else, i7 isn’t perfect, but it’s one of the most reliable and smartest robot vacuum machines out there on the market today. Roomba i7 is a genius home assistant that will help you reduce the stress of completing your home cleaning manually.

Unlike the Roborock S6, the Roomba i7 is compatible with a self-emptying feature, meaning that the robot can empty its dustbin. This relieves you from the bother of doing the task manually since you will only have to empty the trash once a month or so as opposed to every few days.

However, you will have to get the i7+ option that includes the self-emptying clean base which is a few more $$$’s

However, while the Roborock S6 MaxV doesn’t have self-emptying yet if you have multiple floors in your home, it has the sweet ability to be able to save up to 4 different floor plans for better multilevel home cleaning.

There is also a nice camera feature that allows you to see what your vacuum sees from anywhere. This can be a pretty nice home security feature.

One other thing that the Roborock S6 MaxV has over the Roomba is a built-in mopping feature. While it is one of the better vacuum and mop combo robots, I still don’t see the mopping as that much of a benefit. I think you’d be much better off getting a stand-alone mopping unit, but more on that in a bit.

So, it looks like both models have some benefits, so let’s take a closer look at the Roborock S6 MaxV vs iRobot i7 to see if we can help you make the right choice for you.

Let’s take a closer look

The Roborock S6 MaxV and Roomba i7 are two of the best options for you if you’re looking for an effective room cleaning solution. The robots can remove dirt and clean all kinds of debris on bare floors.

The i7 is designed to be the best combination of features to make the stressful task of cleaning out of your to-do list. iRobot i7 is built using the latest smart mapping technologies.

With Smart Mapping, you can control where the bot cleans and when while the Out Zones tell the robot certain sensitive areas like pet bowls or play areas.

Similarly, The Roborock S6 MaxV is an amazing robot vacuum with lots of useful features, including multi-Level mapping, and a mop feature. The bot is powered by twin cameras and Reactive AI which allows it to recognize and avoid obstacles while cleaning your house.

With a maximum suction power of 2,500Pa, you’re sure going to experience deeper cleaning. S6 MaxV comes with a SnapMop system which provides you with a suite of advanced mopping features to make your room cleaning easier and more painless.

So let’s continue our Roomba i7 vs Roborock S6 MaxV comparison with a quick review of them individually.

Roborock S6 MaxV quick review

roborock S6 MaxV Robot Vacuum and Mop with Dual Cameras, Recognize and Avoids Obstacles, 2500Pa...

Manufactured by Roborock, the Roborock s6 MaxV is an upgraded version of the company’s popular S6 model. You may also want to take a look at our Roborock S6 vs S6 Pure vs S6 MaxV post for a little more information on the differences between the models.

Also, we have the new S7 on the horizon that may be worth a look at.

Fundamentally, the Roborock S6 MaxV uses a Smart LDS Navigation system compared to the previous model built with the Lidar Navigation system and also has built-in cameras.

The Smart LDS system comes with 14 sensors of different types that give the robot a higher level of cleaning capacity plus an LDS laser to create a map of the cleaning area.

The LDS system is combined with an intelligent 32-bit quad-core processor for its LIDAR navigation, an improvement that makes this cleaning robot a genius.

Also, the robot vacuum cleaner is guided using a high-precision laser which helps the bot maintain an accurate and stable displacement while working.

While that reads well, a practical example could be socks on the floor. The camera will recognize and avoid them. Many vacuums would just suck them up and get blocked.

Another example … dog poop! Say your furry friend has left you an accident on the carpet, there is a very good chance that this smart vacuum cleaner will not smear it all over the house as has been the case in the past!

The product can efficiently remove partins, debris, and pet hair from your flooring system. The robot has a rubber side brush and a cleaning brush with detachable parts.

S6 MaxV is backed by a 5200Ah battery life that enables it to work for an average time of 180 minutes if fully charged.

Also, the robot boasts of an auto-charge feature so that you don’t have to worry whether your personal assistant’s battery is low or fully charged.

When the power is low, the bot automatically finds its way to the charging base.

The Roborock S6 MaxV will save up to 4 separate floors with up to 10 No-Go Zones, 10 No-Mop Zones, and 10 Invisible Barriers on each level. It will map out your house and know which floor of your house it is on, as well as connect it to your smart home devices.

The Roborock also has an electronic mopping feature that gives you higher and more flexible control over the amount of water through a Roborock app.

With the Roborock app control you can easily manage your vacuum on the go and it also voice commands for Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant.

Through the app you can set schedules, set water flow, clean a specific room, view the cleaning history, and more fun stuff.

How Does Roborock S6 MaxV Work?

Once the robotic vacuum is set up and connected to the Wi-Fi, it’s time to map out your home. To commence the process, hit the power button on top of the robot vacuum, and start it with the app control or your voice.

To use the voice command, you will need to add the Roborock skill to Alexa or pair the app with Google Home first. The S6 MaxV cleans for the first time while mapping out the perimeter of the entire area.

The same mapping process is undergone when the robovac is introduced to a different floor of your home. To add a new floor to your home’s map, go to Map Settings > Edit map and make sure multi-floor maps are enabled. After that, tap Create map at the bottom and follow the prompts.

Once all the floors of your house have been mapped, the S6 MaxV will be able to locate where it is automatically.

The Roborock S6 MaxV divides the areas into sections and cleans each one after the other. You can manage the order of cleaning and create your zones. You can also create different schedules for different rooms. Likewise, you can adjust the vacuum power and water usage for mopping.

When in quiet mode, the S6 MaxV can run for up to three hours. It can vacuum homes up to 2,600 square feet and mop up to 2,150 square feet on a single water tank and charge using low water flow. However, that number drops when you increase the flow of water or suction power.

If the robovac runs out of battery while cleaning, it will return to the dock for as long as it requires to recharge to finish the chore.

  • Powered by twin camera and ReactiveAI for accurate recognition and high obstacle avoidance capability
  • Impressive battery capacity
  • Improved multi-level mapping that can store up to 4 maps

iRobot Roomba i7 quick reveiw

iRobot Roomba i7 (7150) Robot Vacuum- Wi-Fi Connected, Smart Mapping, Works with Alexa, Ideal for...

If you live in a big house with multiple floors and with kids, you can understand how everywhere can easily get messed up. Cleaning in such a situation can be a daunting undertaking, especially if you don’t have more hands to join in keeping the house in shape.

The Roomba i7 is one of the best robot vacuum cleaners that can help you reduce or eliminate stress of doing manual cleaning at home. It’s not the flagship Roomba, that is currently the S9, but it is one of their premium products.

Manufactured by iRobot, the robot is designed to clean homes of various sizes with carpets, rugs, and hard floors. Roomba i7 boasts impressive carpet cleaning, excellent climbing capacity, and strong suction for efficient performance. Plus, it has a tangle-free brush.

This model of iRobot has a self-emptying clean base if you pay a little more for the i7+ vs the Roomba i7.

The robot vacuum thoroughly sweeps up dog hair, grime, and automatic dirt disposal using rubber brushes and a powerful suction force of up to 1700 Pa and carefully dumps it into a 500ml dustbin.

Like the Roborock S6 MaxV, the Roomba comes with an in-built camera sensor, and iRobot’s vSLAM navigation, which allows it to scan the surroundings and create a smart map of your entire home. However, you cannot connect directly to the camera to view your house remotely.

i7 boasts great battery capacity, powered by a rechargeable 3300 mAh lithium-ion battery. The battery life can last for about 120 minutes, and with the Recharge and Resume, you’re guaranteed long hours of usage without any interruption. If the robot stops working due to lack of charge, it will resume cleaning immediately after you start charging it.

The i7 package offers you different choices of robot vacuums that you can choose from, depending on your budget.

While the robot, regardless of the option, has the same functionalities, the Roomba i7+ ( the more expensive option) has a larger dustbin attached to its clean base. The robot vacuum can hold up to 30 empties, making it an ideal option for people living in houses with multiple floors.

How Does Roomba i7 Work?

The Roomba i7 follows the class three-step cleaning progress like other robots with similar technology.

When the robot vacuum is first introduced to your house, it will make a smart map of your home, floor to floor. This process allows it to identify each section of the house for efficient and seamless cleaning performance with a run time of 120 minutes.

If you live in a big house with large living rooms and bedrooms, you can choose the smart mapping to be done as a form of training for the room.

If you have a relatively small home, you can set the robot to combine cleaning and mapping, simultaneously. Roomba i7 cleans the house using a side sweeper, strong suction, a 500 ml dustbin, and advanced silicone rollers.

The Roomba i7 boasts advanced navigation, including its Imprint Smart Mapping which allows it to clean specific rooms and recognize where it’s in at any given time.

Once the robot vacuum creates a smart map for your home and stores the map, you will see the map in the companion mobile app.

  • Smart mapping is ideal for multi-story homes
  • Precise camera-powered navigation
  • Automatic spacerecognition
  • Self-emptying (only available in the i7+ model)
  • The automatic Recharge & Resume
  • Can store up to 30 loads of debris from the i7 cleaning cycles.

You can’t operate the robot vacuums on repeat and edge modes. They both allow zone cleaning.

Roborock S6 MaxV and Roomba i7 use a HEPA. HEPA stands for high-efficiency particulate air. A HEPA filter is a type of mechanical air filter that works by forcing air through a fine mesh that traps harmful particles such as pet dander, dust mites, and tobacco smoke.

That said, cleaning your house with Roborock S6 MaxV can remove particles hidden in your rugs, bedding, and furniture.

Additionally, they both real-time location and programming,

Surface

Both Roborock S6 MaxV and Roomba i7 can clean all floor types, including carpet, rug, and hardwoods. They also do well on laminate, concrete, and vinyl surfaces, making them great options to get rid of dirt, debris, and grime with ease. In terms of dimensions and weight, they are both similar.

Warranty and Certifications

Roborock and iRobot offer their customers a fairly reasonable warranty. For example, the two companies offer a 12-month battery warranty.

Key Differences Between The Roborock S6 And Roomba i7

Although both S6 MaxV and Roomba i7 operate almost the same way, the two are different in many areas. The following are some of the key differences between the two robot vacuums:

Self-emptying clean base

If you pay a little more for the Roomba i7+, it comes with a self-emptying clean base while Roborock S6 MaxV stops cleaning when its dustbin needs emptying. The Roomba i7 vacuum doesn’t just clean the floor on its own, it empties itself too with automatic dirt disposal in the clean base dustbin.

Dirt Detection

The Roomba i7 is built with a system that detects while Roborock S6 isn’t. Roomba i7 can recognize high-traffic spots making and go over the zones a few times until it is clean. With its automatic dirt disposal, it detects spots and cleans.

Battery Life

Comparing the Roborock S6 vs iRobot i7, both products are different in terms of their battery capacity. The Roborock S6 MaxV comes with 5200 mAh while the Roomba i7 only has 3300 mAh.

This means the S6 should vacuum for longer, but as both have a recharge and resume, it’s not a massive thing to worry about.

Full Bin Indicator

Unlike the Roborock S6, a Wi-fi connected Roomba i7 can indicate when its bin is full by illuminating or blinking the full bin indicator.

Remote Viewing Software Feature

Whether you’re curious about your pets or unsure if you closed your door when you left home, the Roborock S6 MaxV can help you keep track of your home when you’re away through a software named “Remote Viewing.”

This feature enables remote viewing of the camera on the robovac. With this update, you can see a real-time video feed while controlling the movement of your robot vacuum.

Could be fun for playing with your pet remotely! If you do have pets, you may also like these posts:

Memory Capacity

The Roborock S6 can store a only maximum of 4 map in memory while the Roomba can save up to 10 different floor plans.

Home Mapping Technology

The Roomba i7+ uses a camera sensor to map your home layout while Roborock S6 uses a laser distance sensor (LDS).

Both LIDAR and cameras are developed to help robots understand their environment such as the floor plans so that it doesn’t run into an obstruction or get confused. Meanwhile, LDS has a reputation for being faster and more exact than cameras.

Mopping

A glaring difference is the fact that the Roborock has a mop. Now, that may seem like a cool idea, but just temper your expectations, there are a couple of things to bear in mind.

Imagine vacuuming your floor and then just wiping a damp cloth over it, once. Would you expect it to be sparking? Probably not, but that is what is being done here.

I will say, the electronic water control for the onboard water tank in the Roborock does ensure it is better than most at mopping as it can keep the cloth damp, but it’s still not wow.

I would always recommend having a separate mop and a cool feature of the i7, and many of the Roomba models is the imprint link. This means it can communicate with your Braava mop and automatically send it out to mop when the vacuuming is finished.

While it is slightly more expensive to have two robots for the task, the difference is noticeable.

FAQs

Is Roborock a good brand?

Yes, Roborock is a great brand, trusted by thousands of thousands of customers all over the world. Although the company is relatively new and only launched in 2014, it has been able to establish itself as one of the most trusted brands in the world. The company is known for its top-of-the-line robot vacuums on the market. The company’s products, especially starting from S5 upward are brilliant mopping robots with a reliable vacuum.

Is Roborock better than Roomba?

Based on customer reviews on independent review platforms such as Yelp and Google My Business, Roomba technology builds better performing vacuums in terms of suction and overall cleaning performance. However, many customers agree that Roborock excels when it comes to navigation and often the inclusion of a mop. I would say they are pretty equal.

What is the difference between Roomba i7 and i7+?

The Roomba i7+ is the upgraded version of the Roomba i7. The Roomba i7+ has a self-emptying base while the i7 model doesn’t.

Does Roborock S6 MaxV support 220v voltage?

Yes, Roborock S6 MaxV works with 100-240 AC input.

Does Roomba i7 get stuck on thick rugs?

The robot works fine as long as the rugs do not have shag length naps or don’t have tassels.

How often do you need to empty Roomba i7’s dustbin?

Despite its self-emptying feature, you will still need to manually empty the dustbin in the clean base, but that won’t be often. The number of times you will need to empty the trash depends on how dirty your floors are and the number of floors and/or rooms involved. You will be notified when the dustbin is full and ready to be emptied via your smartphone, iPad, or the iRobot app.

Final Thoughts

As you have seen, these are two very good machines, and they ought to be at the price.

If you are making the choice between iRobot Roomba i7 vs Roborock S6 MaxV here are a few of my final takeaways.

Although the Roborock S6 MaxV offers you a great mopping feature when compared to others on the market, I don’t think it is a huge bonus. I would say the S6 is the smarter machine and I love the live camera. So if you are away from your home a lot, this can be a benefit.

If you have a dog that is still training, I think the fact it is a robot vacuum cleaner that can avoid dog poop is a huge plus.

However, I can’t get over how much I love self-emptying, yes, I am just that lazy. So, my top choice would be the Roomba i7 . . . but . . . it would have to be the plus version.

If I’m just getting the vacuum alone, I’d choose the Roborock.

Either way, you can’t go wrong here, these two robots are really cool flagship models and stand out of the pack.
