1-Minute Review

Proscenic 850T Robot Vacuum Cleaner, Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum and Mop, Works with Alexa & Google...

The Proscenic 850T is a budget automatic vacuum cleaner that you should certainly consider if you want a reliable and powerful cleaning companion.

The robotic vacuum comes with very strong suction and helpful features coupled with good software, equating to great value for your money. Simply put, it has some serious cleaning power capable of removing hardbound gunk on any surface.

However, as with many other models at this price point, there is a lack of home mapping, but it still does a great job of efficiently cleaning a room logically.

Without smart mapping, you will not be able to set any no-go areas via the app, but this can be solved by the accompanying magnetic strip. It also meant that the Proscenic 850T will not recharge and resume where it stopped if it has to return to the charging base, it will start cleaning from the start again.

However, above all, for its price, it offers excellent performance and value. It is certainly a robot vacuum cleaner truly worth considering.

  • Amazing Suction Power
  • Large water tank
  • Compatible with smart devices
  • The long battery life of 2600 mAH
  • No intelligent home mapping capabilities
  • Needs guidance as it sometimes enters restricted areas
  • Sometimes does not complete a full cycle
  • A bit hard to maintain

How does it work?

Remote Control Proscenic 850T automates cleaning through logical pathing using anti-collision sensors. The device travels to every inch of your surface and vacuums, mops, or simultaneously mops and vacuums it using its strong hardware. Most robot vacuums use different cleaning modes

It follows a very efficient manner which leaves no spot untouched. Users can also choose restricted areas by using the magnetic strip.

To avoid device damage, it has anti-fall sensors. Also, its very compact design allows it to fit under many pieces of furniture such as sofas, beds, and cabinets. The operation of the 850T is seamless and smooth.

Performance

The Proscenic 850T robot vacuum does a good job of automating cleaning and vacuuming for any floor area. It does not matter whether your space is large or not, this cleaner will tidy it up in a very logical manner.

The dual side brushes do a good job of sweeping dirt in front of the main brush roll when the fantastic 3000 Pa suction power will have no problem picking up dust, pet hair, and any other debris. It is more than enough when dealing with hardwood, rugs and low to medium pile carpet.

The robot has three different power settings so for harder surfaces when it doesn’t need full power it will run quietly, but thanks to the V-boost carpet detection it will automatically switch to maximum suction power. It has multiple cleaning modes.

As for the rear end, the robot vacuums come with two different containers, a generous 500ml dust bin and a combination container which is a 300 ml electric water tank with a 280 ml dust bin for mopping duties.

I’m not a massive fan of robot vacuums and mop combos (although the Roborock S7 may be able to change this) as the mopping performance is almost always disappointing. this is why I love the fact that this package contains both options as you’re not sacrificing dustbin space for a water tank you may not want to use.

A 500ml dustbin is a nice size for robot vacuums as it won’t require emptying all that often. Of course, self-emptying robot vacuums take this to another level of laziness, but 500ml should be sufficient for most of us.

About the mopping tank, using this will require more intervention and regular emptying.

The mopping has 3 levels of moisture to suit the type of floor you are cleaning, however, no matter how wet the cloth, it is just like passing a damp cloth over a surface once without much pressure. If you are expecting it to clean up spillages, you may end up disappointed.

This is why I always recommend a separate mopping robot if you have a lot of hard floor surfaces.

It’s also worth noting that the robot is not smart enough to recognize rugs and carpets, so if you are using the mopping feature and have carpeted areas, be sure to make use of the magnetic strips to block off areas you don’t want to get wet.

While the Proscenic 850T does have an element of intelligence in its route planning, the lack of smart navigation means it doesn’t recognize where it is in the house. This can result in problems when it comes to self-docking on the charging port as it gets lost.

One final thing I want to mention is the height. At just 2.87 inches (7.3cm) it is up there with some of the slimmest robot vacuum cleaners on the market such as the eufy models, great for cleaning under beds and furniture.

Key Features: Robot Vacuum Cleaner

So let’s take a closer look at some major selling points of the device.

Voice & Remote Control

If you have a Wi-Fi connection, you can configure Proscenic 850T with its native app for better control, planning, and even monitoring of the robot. You can even prompt to start or stop the cleaning process anytime at the tip of your fingers. You can also issue very simple commands via Amazon Alexa devices or Google Assistant.

Automatic Charging and Systematic Cleaning

It does not randomly clean the house. Instead, it follows a highly efficient and logical algorithm to cover every inch of your unit. Combine this with an automatic charging function in which the device returns to its dock when battery life is low, then you have a standard cleaning solution that provides seamless operations.

Long Run Time

The 2600 mAh battery of the Proscenic 850T robot vacuum can help it reach up to 2 hours of active cleaning time. Do not worry, as it goes back to its job after automatic charging is complete.

No-go Zones with Magnetic Tapes

Do you have areas that you do not want to be cleaned? No problem as Proscenic 850T got you covered! Magnetic tapes included with the purchase help in restricting the mobility of the robot. This results in a flexible cleaning process that is dependent on your choices.

Great Hardware and Suction Power

Amazing suction power combined with a large electric water tank and dust containers make this remote control robot a great companion for clean-up. There will be no need to frequently dispose of the bins nor add water to them as the storage capacity is enough for multiple sessions. To add, the strong suction power means that no dirt escapes the vision of this smart robot.

Ease of set-up and use

Even a person who has difficulties operating machines will find the Proscenic 850T robot vacuum is easy to use.

To start your journey with the device, you need to make sure that cords and wires are out of sight, as the suction power of the 850T can absorb them.

To prepare the device, you must assemble the dust tank, water tank, plug, and dock or charging station of the device.

The magnetic strip should be kept in case you need it in the future. Remove the tabs on the side of the device and take off the stickers. Check if the components are complete and flip the device over to install the edge cleaning brushes.

If all components are ready, you can either use the remote or the app to proceed. If you choose to proceed with the app, install the Proscenic Home app and turn on the robot’s switch.

Log in and add the device. You should see the 850T and connect it to the router. After confirmation, the button should be held, and you now have control over your robot. This gives you greater control over your choices.

Note: the device only connects to 2.4ghz WiFi and there have been some reports of trouble connecting to dual-band routers that have support 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. When I had this issue with my Proscenic 820s, this is the fix I used and if you are having trouble connecting your 850T robot vacuum cleaner to your WiFi, I recommend trying it.

My problem was that my router 2.4 and 5GHZ signal names were too similar and it was confusing the system. To fix it  I managed to log into my router, change the name of the 2.4ghz signal, reconnect the app and the robot vacuum, and just like that, I could connect it to my Wi-Fi.

If you are changing your WiFi name, I recommend changing it to something along the lines of “FBI surveillance van”, just to worry your neighbors.

Reliability

The 2 hours of run time makes the 850T a great companion. However, the lack of mapping capabilities for virtual use makes it a bit behind compared to its competitors.

As mentioned above sometimes the inability to locate its dock for recharging can be frustrating.

These issues, however, can be fixed with added human intervention.

The device settings such as auto-cleaning, deep cleaning, mopping, and spot-cleaning. A schedule can also be built to tailor the device based on your needs.

Overall, it is a fairly reliable device that can be used without the app, as the remote is also great in directing the 850T to do your desired tasks.

Ongoing Maintenance

Ongoing maintenance of the device involves cleaning the dust bin and HEPA filter, refilling the water tank, and removal of gunk on its brushes.

A tool to help with clean-up is included in the package, so there is no need to purchase one for yourself.

To open the dust bin, you must pull out and remove the component to throw the content away in a trash bin. To access the brushes, you can flip the device and use the tool to scrape out the hard dirt trapped in it.

Remember to not use water in the HEPA filters, as it can cause damage.

Extra Purchases and Ongoing Costs

Extra purchases on the Proscenic 850T robot vacuum cleaner solely depend on your choice and lifestyle. You can increase the devices’ restriction capabilities by buying more magnetic strips on Amazon

As for the components such as brushes and bins, there is no need to purchase additional ones, since they come with the robot.

The only ongoing cost that you will spend with the device is for electricity usage. However, with an active life of 2600 mAh, this will not be an issue.
