Power, Cleaning Tool, Proficiency –Full Review eufy RoboVac G30 Edge

eufy robovac g30 edge has been making great robotic vacuums for a while now and can certainly be considered as a good alternative to a Roomba. All of their models have a great slim design and this one is no different.

Robot Vacuums Suction Power

Eufy RoboVac G30 Edge is an automated robot vacuum cleaner that boasts “power,” “purpose,” and proficiency.” In terms of its power, Eufy RoboVac G30 Edge offers around 2000Pa of suction power that allows it to absorb and suck every single speck that it encounters during its journey through your home (talk about efficiency).

In addition to that, it is also equipped with BoostIQ Technology which automatically allows it to increase its suction power even more when necessary.

This “power” that it offers is further supported by its advantages in its “purpose” as well, as it contains a refined smart navigation function and path tracking sensors that allow its automated cleaning function and ensures that no spots are left uncleaned.

Furthermore, you may also opt to control it through your smartphone, your Alexa, your Google Assistant, or even through its voice assistant. Vacuum controls, a scheduling option, and detailed cleaning history are accessible from a tool menu on the bottom of the screen.

Topping that off with its “proficiency” features such as its ability to reach low lying surfaces due to its slim 2.85-inch height (just like other great eufy robot vacuums), its quiet cleaning function, drop-proof mechanics, auto-charging prompt, and border recognition, it is certainly a jack-of-all-trades in the field of automated cleaning.

Robot Vacuum Performance

The functionalities of robot vacuum cleaners do not fall far from their initially thought-of features. From cracker crumbs to specks of dust and clumps of pet hair, it excellently sucks up all the debris that gathers around a house and leaves it glistening after use – making it a great option when you just cannot help but drop a few pieces of your chips when you are eating.

In addition to that, it is indeed able to reach tight spaces as the device is built for such and does not bump into the borders of the couches when used. The convenience of this product is its definite homerun feature as it takes cleaning off your hands and automates everything – from scheduling to operation, and even charging.

It is somehow unfortunate though that it does not function well when cables are clustered around or if it encounters thick or dark-colored carpets as it interferes with its navigation. It also has a few observed difficulties when navigating back to its charging station, sometimes requiring you to utilize the manual navigation system to operate the machine back.

However, this also poses another problem as it is a little tedious to operate due to the particularly “specific” program that only allows it to move forward after turning when the forward button is pressed.

Apart from that, it also only has one brush instead of two resulting in mixed impressions from users who were accustomed to having two side brushes.

Nevertheless, it is a definite beast when used in the right locations – not the noisy kind of beast, mind you, but the surprisingly quiet and gentle kind.

Ease of Setup and Use

When talking about something so convenient, you might think that it might take an inordinate amount of time to set up and get everything straightened out. Turns out, this is another area where Eufy RoboVac G30 Edge excels.

Initial steps based on the manual are also described in this eufy Robovac G30 edge review.

Setting up the device requires no prior knowledge of most robot vacuums at all and only requires a little amount of time to fully charge the device before actual use.

Upon opening, the user only needs to plug in the charging base and place it securely fastened against the wall, which would glow white when connected to AC power.

In addition to that, the only thing that you need to do to the actual device itself – other than to fully charge it before use – is to remove the sticker from the power switch and the foam blocks beside the bumper and attach the supplied spinning edge brush for it to be able to clean.

Various adjustments such as setting up boundary strips and cleaning up the area to remove cables or block out wet areas are just minor chores that could be performed beforehand.

With the EufyHome app (available for Android and iOS devices) and a little proficiency in using smartphones – and by that, we mean being able to follow instructions to connect to the WiFi – everything is virtually ready for the Eufy RoboVac G30 Edge to start cleaning your home.

You can find the full manual here.

Reliability, Durability, and the Like

The product does not possess any fragile parts that could be construed as sources of potential damage. It is relatively durable when used properly as it does not inflict damage upon itself normally due to the various safety systems in place.

It recognizes boundary strips and elevated areas to avoid areas that are sensitive to the machine. In most other ways, the G30 Edge is like past Eufy offerings. It has a 2000Pa max suction, it boasts multiple cleaning modes, and it uses BoostIQ to automatically optimize suction power according to the type of floor it’s cleaning. Its 100-minute runtime is also comparable to its stablemates.

However, the sensors may be compromised upon repetitive use, resulting in poor navigation and difficulty recognizing surfaces or even their charging base. This may be due to dust accumulation in its sensors, but either way, it is a definite hassle that many users have experienced and reported previously.

Eufy Operations in the Long Run

As with other products, Eufy RoboVac G30 Edge, according to various users, suffers from diminishing performance after a certain period.

This might be evident with its difficulty in navigating your home, mapping out certain areas, or even cleaning out specific places in your house.

Although this is unfortunate, this is normal as everything is usually subject to degradation and loss of quality, especially when it is being used frequently. As such, despite not having specific measures to address these problems, the Eufy RoboVac G30 Edge comes with a 12-month product service warranty and a great customer assistance function that will help you resolve these problems and return your device to its tiptop shape like how it initially performed.

With this, you are ensured that your device will always be performing its best and that you are getting your money’s worth from this investment.

Accessories and Recommended Upgrades

The product set itself is self-sustaining and does not require additional purchases to make it functional.

Upon purchase, the device comes with two side brushes, cable ties, and boundary strips to mark out the areas that you want your device to avoid.

These products are essential for the device to function (especially the brush and the strips), but these are not additional purchases that would cost you a few more bucks to afford.

The device, however, might require future replacements with its battery or additional boundary strips when both are no longer enough to satisfy your use.

These are not necessary for initial use, but one might encounter such necessities when using the product for longer periods.

Either way, the accessories described in this eufy Robovac G30 review are more of optional or preferred purchases – accessories that you could use to improve your overall experiences, especially if its use is starting to diminish the quality of the product.

FAQs

What is the difference between the G30 and the eufy Robovac G30 Edge?

Both products, apart from being manufactured by the same company, are essentially similar in most aspects – cleaning and hardware generation-wise. However, the G30 Edge offers boundary strip detection or the ability to use magnetic strips that signals the device to avoid a certain location. This is especially effective when marking out intricate areas that you want your device to avoid. It also is the most consistent of all boundary-detection methods – making it a reliable option despite sounding a little “old-school.”

Is the battery easily replaceable?

Yes! It only contains around two screws and only requires another flat-head screwdriver to release the electrical connector. The approximate amount of time needed to fully replace and reseal the device is around five minutes

Do the sensors need light to work properly?

Surprisingly, it doesn’t! The device utilizes a gyro-navigation system that uses infrared sensors to detect surrounding materials and avoid drops and impacts with other objects. Light is not necessary to operate the machine, but the sensor may be compromised and interfered with when the device is used in reflective surfaces or thick carpets.

Can the device clean close to the boundary strips?

Of course! The device can clean as close as it can to the boundary strips. It simply does not cross the magnetic strips when it recognizes one.

How long will it take to fully recharge the device?

As per initial instructions, the device needs to be fully charged before it can be used to clean and map out your home. This initial charging time or the standard time that it will take to fully charge the device is around six hours. However, with the self-recharging function, the device automatically returns to its charging base once its power reaches 20%. At this time, the device will continuously charge up to 80% before the next use, and this cycle usually takes around three hours to finish.

Should the device be turned off when not in use?

Leaving the device in its “on” status does not compromise the battery life of the device, nor does it damage the components within the machine itself. Turning it off may result in your scheduled cleanups being discarded or failure to be carried out. If you are leaving your house for an extended period, it is recommended to unplug the device from the charging outlet to prevent any unforeseen instances with your device or your power situation

Final Thoughts

When looking at the product from a general perspective, it has a little more room for improvement, but one does not deny the benefits that it also offers. Its cleaning power is topnotch and is arguably one of the best, but it falls short due to its hardware setup.

Additional features such as its mapping functionality, smart navigation, phone-control, and other functionalities are great bonuses that make this product even more appealing. It does have certain problems when it comes to its extended durability, but this is pretty much true for any product in the market.

Overall, the Eufy RoboVac G30 Edge holds up well in its area and is worth a second look when you are in search of a great automatic vacuum cleaner.
